“Not only that, but everything on him that could be tracked was also thrown out along the way. That’s when I knew something was wrong and came to you immediately!” Christian’s voice was urgent, but his report was clear.
He handed Dennis the items he had recovered.
Dennis narrowed his eyes. Besides the phone, Christian had found a watch, a tie clip, a necklace… They had stripped him clean.
In fact, before he had left the country, Dennis had anticipated that the Adams family wouldn't remain idle once they discovered Larry's plans. He had advised Larry to take precautions. Each of these items had a tracking system embedded in it. Larry had followed his instructions perfectly.
But now, it seemed those precautions weren't enough. For someone to know about such secretive measures, they had to be very close to him.
Dennis’s gaze turned colder. There was no doubt about it: someone in Larry’s inner circle had been bought by the Adams family and had leaked the information. That’s why he was ambushed.
They were already in the car as they spoke. Dennis acted decisively, handing a tablet to Christian. “Mark the locations where you found these items.”
“Right!” Christian nodded and took the tablet.
Dennis then turned to Aaron. “Contact the traffic department and have them pull the surveillance footage of Larry’s route after he left the Smith Group last night. Also, if I recall correctly, he has bodyguards. Why didn’t they protect him? Where are they now? Have them meet me.”
“Yes, sir!” Aaron acknowledged, immediately pulling out his phone to make the calls.
Both men worked with extreme efficiency. A short while later, Christian finished marking the locations on the map.
Dennis analyzed the points one by one and quickly noticed something was wrong. After leaving the Adams Group, Larry’s route initially headed toward his home. But at an intersection, the car had suddenly turned, taking a road that led away from his house. That deviation struck Dennis as strange. The other locations where items were found were even more chaotic and random.
After reviewing the map, Dennis’s brows furrowed deeply.
Christian was anxious. Wait for what? But he knew Mr. Williams always had a plan, so he didn't dare rush him.
Aaron kindly explained, “We need to wait for feedback from the traffic department. Once we get the surveillance footage, we can determine the specifics of what happened to Mr. Adams. Then we can plan our next move.”
Christian nodded, though his face was still etched with worry. “Mr. Adams will be okay, won’t he? I hope he’s not hurt or in danger…” He knew all too well about the internal strife in the Adams family and how precarious Larry’s position was. Falling into their hands would not be pleasant.
Dennis didn’t answer, his expression grim.
Aaron patted Christian’s shoulder reassuringly. “Don’t worry. The people who took him wouldn't dare do anything permanent…”
The Adams family knew, after all, that Larry had Mr. Williams backing him. If they truly harmed him, Mr. Williams would never let them get away with it. Aaron believed it was more likely they were just holding Larry somewhere to prevent him from attending tomorrow's birthday gala.
