“Nathan, I believe the person you’re working for wanted to ensure Mr. Williams couldn’t interfere with their plans, correct? Because they know Mr. Adams has evidence. So even if they can’t silence him permanently, they want to make sure those secrets stay buried in the dark, never to see the light of day!”
Aaron spoke slowly but with perfect clarity, exposing their entire scheme.
Christian had wanted to feign ignorance, but he knew he couldn’t fool these two.
“Christian, don’t even think about making excuses,” Aaron added. “The game is up. There's no turning back now. Nothing you say will make us trust you.”
At that, the facade on Christian’s face finally shattered, replaced by a look of utter defeat.
“You truly live up to your reputation, Mr. Williams. Nothing escapes your notice,” Christian admitted with a sigh. “You suspected me back in the car, didn't you? You sent Aaron off midway to clear out the other ambush teams, is that right?”
Dennis didn't deny it. He had indeed deduced their objective and the likely moves they would make, so he had instructed Aaron to scout ahead. The hunch had paid off perfectly.
Aaron said nonchalantly, “All the ambushers have been captured. Are you going to come with us willingly, or do my men need to restrain you?”
Aaron looked at him, baffled. “The Adams family? They’re hardly a powerhouse compared to Mr. Williams. He’s the real titan here. If you had just told Mr. Adams what was happening, do you really think he would have let anything happen to your wife and daughter?”
Christian smiled bitterly. “I know he wouldn't have, but it was too late. They’ve hidden my family. I still have no idea where they are! Now that the plan has failed, I don’t know what will happen to them…”
At this, he looked pleadingly at Dennis. “Mr. Williams, could you possibly—”
“No,” Dennis cut him off without a second thought. “Betrayal is unforgivable. That's my rule. After this is over, I will have Larry fire you. However, for the sake of your wife and daughter, you will cooperate with my instructions from now on. If you do exactly as I say, I will have my people find them and return them to you when this is all over.”
