Griffin was a renowned domestic designer. He didn’t produce work often, but whenever he did, it sent ripples through the entire industry.
Isabelle was his student.
Afternoon sunlight streamed through the corridor windows, stretching Collin’s tall frame into a long shadow. The golden light outlined his profile in perfect detail.
Collin was the classic steady type–genuinely gentle, genuine in character. With a face like his, even the air around him seemed softer.
She smiled faintly.
“You should come by the studio more often. When our teacher unleashes his scolding, he saves his full arsenal for me. If you were around, at least I’d have someone to share the burden–I wouldn’t get grilled so badly,” he chuckled.
Isabelle laughed with him.
In the past, Isabelle would spend hours with them in Griffin’s studio, shutting out the world and focusing only on design.
Now, her weekends were tangled up with Damian.
Seems I’m specializing in just one thing these days.
She remembered those few minutes in the hospital room. His lips were so soft. Kissing him was like being spellbound–she could barely keep herself together.
Every place Damian touched her became a point of ignition. A single spark was enough to start a wildfire–one that burned fast. burned fiercely, and just wouldn’t stop.
“Isabelle.” Collin’s voice pulled her back.
“Hmm?” she replied quietly, covering her distraction.
“Call me if you need anything. I’ve got to go–things to do,” he said.
“Okay. Thanks, Collin.” She didn’t try to keep him.
Collin gave her one more smile, then turned and left the corridor.
Isabelle stayed in the hallway alone for a little while. Just as she was about to leave, passing by the fire exit, a dark–gloved hand yanked her inside.
Before she could react, a rough sack was pulled over her head.
She struggled hard, screaming for help, and in the struggle, she broke free from the person’s grip. Still trapped in the sack, she tumbled down a flight of stairs.
“Ouch!” Her body ached from the impacts.
No time for this. I have to get out.

Chapter 167 Avoiding My Call
Isabelle managed to push the sack open just enough and heard a man curse, “Damn it!”
She didn’t get a good look at his face before he jumped down the stairs after her, trying to pin her. Isabelle kicked out hard, sending him stumbling further down.
In a panic, she tried calling Damian while scrambling back up the stairs.
She desperately twisted the handle of the fire door, but it was locked tight. With no choice, she kept running up.
Meanwhile, Damian was helping Celeste in her wheelchair to the bathroom. His phone sat beside the food containers, silence we couldn’t hear a thing.
After settling Celeste, Damian went to wash his hands.
Isabelle’s call came through again. Celeste, sitting nearby, pressed her lips together in a faint smile and picked up Damian’s phone. then declined the call and powered it off. Then she placed it on the floor.
By the time Isabelle tried again, it was already switched off.
Isabelle was panting from exhaustion.
if I weren’t so exhausted from Damian keeping me up last night, my legs wouldn’t feel this heavy.
Her hands shook badly as she fumbled to open WhatsApp and video call Collin. He hadn’t left long ago–he was probably still in the hospital.
She saw the man from below running up the stairs toward her. He snorted, “Where do you think you’re going?”
He’s just a kid. Isabelle realized, catching her breath. She looked from the guy below to the stairs above–only to see another figure coming down.
When Damian came out of the bathroom, he found his phone on the floor. He picked it up. It was off.
“Sorry. I must have knocked it over when I reached for water. See if it’s broken,” Celeste said weakly, propped up in bed. Some color had returned to her face.
Damian ignored her.
A lingering blush still tinted Celeste’s cheeks.
Seeing Damian standing over her, focused on his phone, she couldn’t help but recall the intense scene between him and isabelle earlier.
She imagined herself in Damian’s arms, fantasizing that the woman lying beside him was her
Her face flushed again.
