“You said you had something to tell me. What is it?” Isabelle put down her bag and stood beside Diana, watching her work with the
fabric.
Diana stopped cutting and moved to sit by the coffee table, taking a long drink of water.
“Two things. First, Collin mentioned a trip to Fertitta City tomorrow. Everything’s already arranged. He’s bringing Linda along, said he wants her to get a change of scenery. He wanted to know your thoughts. I’m fine with it,” Diana said, then took a sip of her juice.
“Shouldn’t be an issue. Fertitta City has plenty of nice spots–it sounds like a good plan. But both my mothers are already traveling. so they probably can’t join,” Isabelle replied.
Regina had taken Caroline on a trip to unwind, and they likely wouldn’t be back for a while.
“Then there’s the second thing. Brian just told me this morning–Ashley, your half–sister, is also in Nyxaria. Apparently, she’s been there for some time. Remember that time we ran into her at the café? She went to the same city Mr. Cross traveled to.”
Diana pursed her lips, her expression clearly annoyed as she spoke.
She continued, “No idea if she knew Damian would be there or if it’s just a coincidence. But I felt like you should know.”
Isabelle considered this.
That day at the café, Ashley had been with Wilbur, that manager from the design department who had studied overseas.
It was already difficult enough with Damian being away; hearing Ashley was in the same place made her feel even more unsettled.
Last time, Ashley had said she was going abroad for work–who knew if that was the truth.
Isabelle frowned.
Why would Ashley have specifically mentioned she was going abroad for work?
“No matter what she’s up to, she can’t really cause major trouble. Just hearing her name is irritating enough,” Isabelle said, her own annoyance growing.
“But don’t worry too much. Brian already informed Damian,” Diana added, standing up to return to her fabric cutting.
“It’s not Damian I’m worried about. It’s more about someone creating unnecessary drama on their own,” Isabelle said, joining her friend to help with the work.
The two of them spent the whole morning in the studio. When Bonita came by, they were still deep in discussion about the dress waistline.
“Mr. Cross sent over some lunch,” Bonita announced from the doorway. “It’s still warm. Would you like to eat now?”
Isabelle paused. “Damian sent it?”
“The delivery person said Mr. Cross placed the order this morning.”

“Go ahead and cat first,” Isabelle said to Diana.
Diana and Bonita headed downstairs.
Isabelle checked the time on her phone. Would calling him now disturb his rest?
Just as she was hesitating, Damfan’s video call came through.
She answered quickly.
On the screen, Damian looked serious, but the moment he saw Isabelle, his eyes softened. Still, there were faint red streaks in them, as if he was utterly exhausted.
“Are you drunk?” Isabelle asked, concerned.
The only time she’d seen him truly drunk was at the company’s IPO celebration.
This time didn’t seem much better.
“Yeah.”
He’d landed not long ago and went straight into back–to–back meetings, which involved quite a bit of alcohol. He had tried to sleep but couldn’t.
He figured she’d be having lunch around now, and the food he ordered should have arrived.
“I heard you didn’t sleep well last night?” Damian asked, his voice thick and slightly nasal.
“How did you know?”
“Susie mentioned you were up early today. Probably couldn’t sleep all night missing me, right?”
He really knew how to flatter himself.
“Eat and drink normally. Don’t overthink things about me–it’s not good for you,” Damian chuckled, seeming a little more alert.
“Did you not sleep at all either? You should get some rest.” Isabelle felt a pang in her chest seeing him like this.
Was this what his business trips were always like?

Even before they were married, he traveled frequently. This was the first time since the wedding. Being a CEO clearly wasn’t a job just anyone could handle.
“I can’t sleep. No one’s here to warm the bed tonight,” he said, pausing to adjust the phone, revealing a glimpse of his well–defined chest. “Did you miss me?” His voice was tired and raspy.
Isabelle’s cheeks grew warm. She was glad no one else was around–it would have been embarrassing if anyone had heard.
This man was definitely in a mood.
He never liked sleeping with a shirt on.
