Over the years, Anthony had heard bits and pieces about them–aboo! Damian : leg, Lucas‘ back injury, Alaric losing hearing in one ear and about his own reported death.

He hadn’t planned on coming back. He didn’t even remember how he survived those dark days alone. But as time passed, he missed them more.

Damian punched his chest, which felt even more solid than before.

But the scar on his face was impossible to miss. Damian saw it immediately.

He frowned, wanting to ask but holding back. The scar was old, and up close, it was shocking to see.

“Sorry to disappoint. Still alive.” Anthony’s gaze dropped to Damian’s legs. “You doing okay?”

“I’m okay.” Damian nodded.

By silent agreement, they didn’t bring up the past. Knowing they were both alive was enough.

“I’ve already told Lucas and the others. We’re getting together tonight,” Anthony said.

“So I was the last to know?” Damian sounded annoyed.

Anthony snorted, shoving his shoulder lightly. They both sat down. wanted to see you alone first.”

Damian said, “But you’ll have to wait. My wife’s outside. I need to tell her.”

“Sure,” Anthony replied quietly, setting down his coffee cup. He watched Damian’s back as he left the room.

He picked up the cup again, gazing out the window at the city lights. His eyes reflected the colorful world outside. Sitting in this small room, he felt completely out of place.

Anthony held the cup in mid–air. The coffee had gone cold, losing its aroma.

When Damian stepped out of the private room, Isabelle was still on the sofa, but now a woman was leaning against her shoulder.

“Is she drunk?” Damian frowned at the sight of Lynn’s flushed face pressed against Isabelle.

He wasn’t happy. Even if it was a woman, he didn’t like anyone taking his spot, especially with Isabelle pregnant.

Isabelle said, “Yeah. Daisy is coming to take her home.”

Damian stated, “Should have called Lucas to pick her up.”

“She specifically said not to call Lucas,” Isabelle smiled.

Damian was speechless.

What did Lucas do to make her so scared? Did she get drunk because of him?

Bamlan, don’t you dare snitch for your buddy.” Lyan mumbled, lifting her heavy eyelids. She took a deep breath.

She was dizzy, but not completely out of it.

This was her first time drinking outside. The wine wasn’t as good as what Lucas had at home, and it was making her head spin

Damian kept silent.

“Or I’ll have Isabelle deal with you tonight,” Lynn muttered and leaned to the other side.

Damian shot Isabelle a look.

Don’t you dare.

Isabelle just pressed her lips together, looking pleased with herself.

Daisy hadn’t finished her rounds yet, but Lucas arrived first. He still looked worn out. Seeing Lynn sprawled on the sofa made his head throb even more.

It’s true what they say: No matter how good the food is at home, anything outside seems exciting when you haven’t tried it.

There’s plenty of good wine at home. Wasn’t that enough? She had to come out and buy drinks.

Seeing Lucas arrive, Isabelle moved to sit beside Damian.

“Head home first. I’m meeting an old friend. Might be very late. Don’t wait up,” Damian said softly. “I’ll have James take you.”

“Then don’t drink,” Isabelle said.

She knew he was working on that project with Barry tonight, but she hadn’t realized it would be so difficult.

“Don’t worry. Orders received,” Damian smiled, put an arm around her shoulders, and kissed her forehead.

Isabelle quickly pushed him away.

Anthony happened to be passing by not far off. He saw them and allowed himself a small smile.

Lucas sat down next to Lynn. Watching Damian and Isabelle being affectionate, then looking at the woman passed out beside him, he let out a quiet sigh.

This woman isn’t exactly well–behaved.

Isabelle left.

“I’ll take her home and come back,” Lucas said.

Damian nodded. “So you know?”

He meant about Anthony’s return.

“Had my suspicions for a few days, but wasn’t sure.” Lucas draped his jacket over Lynn.

Daisy walked over just then and saw the scene. She gave an awkward smile.

Daisy looked at Damian, then pressed her lips together. “Lynn said she’s staying at my place tonight…”

She told me not to let anyone take her, especially Lucas.

She couldn’t bring herself to say it out loud.

But right now, taking Lynn away seemed impossible.

Lynn is in danger tonight.

After the night Lucas had a fever, Lynn felt the direction of their relationship had shifted.

She just wanted to try the drinks tonight, and she never expected to end up drunk.
