Chapter 433 Slowing Down
Isabelle surprised him with a quick kiss on the corner of his mouth. “Your reward.”
Damian smiled, “I’ll collect later.”
Soon, Diana arrived to pick up Isabelle. Damian was still working when they left.
“Be safe,” Damian said, squeezing her hand.
“I will. And remember, no drinking.” Isabelle reminded him.
“Yes, my boss,” Damian smiled.
They shared a brief, familiar kiss, and Isabelle was gone.
As soon as Isabelle got into the passenger seat, Diana stared at her.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Isabelle asked.

Diana smirked and pulled a concealer from the glove compartment. “Just thinking, Mr. Cross likes to leave his mark, doesn’t he?”
Isabelle checked the visor mirror and flushed.
Her dress that morning hadn’t revealed anything. But after her shower, she’d changed into a white, sleeveless shift dress. It showed her collarbones-and the faint marks Damian had left there last night.
She took the concealer and carefully covered them.
“Lynn’s coming tonight, too. I was thinking of asking her. She might have some connections,” Diana said, steering the wheel.
“For Anthony’s scar?” Isabelle put the concealer back.
“Yeah. Medical tech is so advanced now.” As a friend, Diana hated seeing him so withdrawn.
The scar on Anthony’s face was large, with raised tissue. It was close to his temple, so any procedure would carry risks.
“He could also go to a cosmetic clinic,” Isabelle said. “If he’s willing.
Diana shook her head. “I asked him the other night. He wasn’t keen.”
Anthony hadn’t considered removing the scar. A mark on the face could be erased, but the

wounds inside never really healed.
The scar was a constant reminder.
When they arrived at the pub, Daisy was already waiting outside.

“Finally! Any later and your spot would’ve been taken,” Daisy said, pulling them inside.
Their seats were in a semi-private corner near the stage, offering a good view while staying somewhat hidden.
Lynn, who’d been tasting cocktails at the bar, saw them come in and followed.
On stage, a woman with a gentle voice was singing “My Love.”
Everything about her was soft, even her song.
Lynn sat down with her wine glass. She said to Daisy, “The bartender is really hot.”
“Don’t drink too much. Last time, Lucas almost chewed my head off. If he shows up and sees you, I’ll get an earful again,” Daisy warned.
“It’s just a cocktail. Low alcohol. Besides, he and …” Lynn’s voice trailed off.
She wanted to say more but stopped herself, downing the rest of her drink instead.
The memory of Lucas changing her clothes when she was drunk… it wouldn’t leave her head.
“Is Lucas coming?” Isabelle asked.
“Yes. The whole gang is.” Daisy arranged for a server to bring drinks and snacks.
Isabelle pressed her lips together.
So this is the gathering Damian meant.
But it was the guys’ thing. She wouldn’t intrude.
“You guys relax. I need to check on a few things. I’ll send over a fruit platter later,” Daisy said before hurrying off.
Diana leaned back on the sofa, propped on one arm, playing with a strand of Isabelle’s hair. “Slowing down… feels like my brain is finally emptying out.”
“I always thought designers could work whenever they wanted, just lie around otherwise. A single dress costs tens of thousands of dollars. And with your reputations now, it’s worth even more,” Lynn remarked.

Diana joked. “Oh, we can’t compare to a distinguished lady like you”
She and Isabelle had been each other’s light. They supported each other to get where they were. They’d seen the worst in people, faced disdainful looks, and fallen into pits of despair.
They knew success was the only way to stand firm and silence the critics.
“A distinguished lady’ is still just a person,” Lynn said. She didn’t like the title.
It felt like being pinned to a pillar of luxury.
Because of it, many people looked at her differently, just like the way Lucas had looked at her initially.
Without truly knowing her, most people probably saw her as just another pretty, vapid socialite.
“My big mouth.” Diana lightly tapped her own lips and “punished” herself by taking a drink.
Lynn raised her glass and drank with her. “It’s fine. I’m used to it.”
She didn’t mind. She knew Diana was just teasing.
Isabelle smiled, sipping her juice through a straw. She was about to bring up Anthony with Lynn when he walked into the pub.
His striking features and tall, straight posture drew many eyes.
One side of his face was flawless. But when he turned his head, the shocking scar came into view.
Lynn’s gaze was naturally drawn to him.
She remarked, “Haven’t seen such a perfect face in a long time. What a shame… ruined like that. His physique probably rivals your husband’s, doesn’t it?”
