Chapter 449 Timid Dami
“I should go get ready,” Damman said to Eric, then walked over to Isabelle and Abigail.
“All finished?” Isabelle asked.
“For now. Do you want to stay here awhile? I need to go to the office,” Damian said.
Isabelle smiled, “Go ahead. I’ll keep Grandpa company.”
“I’ll pick you up at noon,” Damian said.
“Okay.”
They had only talked briefly last night. She wanted to spend more time with Christian.
Damian couldn’t help but slip an arm around her neck and kiss the corner of her mouth.
Abigail, sitting right there, frowned as she watched them. “Am I allowed to see this? Shouldn’t this be pay–per–view?”
Isabelle hadn’t reacted in time before he kissed her, and her face flushed instantly.
Damian’s skin had grown thick as armor these days.
“Sure, want to pay the fee?” Damian said with a laugh.
He reached over and ruffled Abigail’s hair on purpose, messing it up, then turned to leave.

“Timid Dami!” Abigail snapped, using his childhood nickname. “I’m so mad. He ruined the hairstyle I just fixed this morning.”
Isabelle couldn’t help but giggle beside her.
“Timid Dami? That’s his nickname?” Isabelle asked, smiling.
“Yeah. He was really shy and timid as a kid. Who knew he’d turn out so different as he grew up?” Abigail said, smoothing her hair.
Isabelle laughed softly. That name had nothing to do with who he was now.
“So childish, even now…” Abigail muttered.
Isabelle felt a pang of envy.
At least they’ve always had each other. Not like me.

I was on my own, fighting my way through. If it weren’t for that wild night with Damian, I’d probably still be alone, lying in some big empty house.
“Were you and Damian always like this when you were little?” Isabelle asked, curious.
“Not really. He used to hide behind me. He only got bolder as he grew up. And if I had to guess why… it was probably because of Jonathan,” Abigail said, her gaze dropping slightly, cheeks tinged with pink.
Isabelle listened intently.

Abigalt continued, “Not long after I met Jonathan, Damian found out. Once, when Jonathan and I were out for a walk, Jonathan tried to kiss me. Damian saw, thought Jonathan was forcing me, and ended up punching him.”
What happened afterward, they both knew–both sets of parents got invorved.
Isabelle felt envy. They had always looked out for each other.
“That’s when he started to become bolder,” Abigail said, a small smile touching her lips.
Suddenly, Abigail paused as if remembering something. She turned to Isabelle. “Once Damian chooses someone, he gives them his whole heart. He’ll never let you feel wronged.”
Isabelle smiled.
I know. Damian will never let me feel wronged. He wants to be glued to me every day, even insisting on helping me with things like changing my shoes.
Those hands should be counting money, but here he is, bending down to change my shoes, helping me bathe…
“And you have us now, too,” Abigail said, nudging Isabelle’s shoulder gently.
Isabelle wrapped an arm around hers and rested her head on Abigail’s shoulder. “Now I have my family to back me up,” she said sweetly.
After Damian left, Isabelle and Abigail went upstairs and chatted with Christian for a while. Caroline and Regina stayed with them,
too.
Around noon, Christian grew tired and rested. Not wanting to disturb him, the women decided to go out for lunch together.
As they came downstairs, they ran into Sophia and Camellia arguing in the foyer.
Camellia’s face was flushed with anger. Sophia grabbed her purse and stormed out.
“The older she gets, the harder she is to handle,” Camellia said, exasperated.
Abigail wasn’t surprised. Since Sophia had returned, she’d been causing some kind of drama every few days.
She hadn’t asked Jonathan about it, and Jonathan didn’t want to get involved.
Just as Sophia walked out, she nearly collided with Bruce, who was coming in.
“Move,” she snapped, swinging her bag. It thumped against Bruce’s chest.
Bruce sidestepped without comment and walked inside.
“Mrs. Cross, Abigail,” Bruce said.
