Chapter 513 Just Don’t Leave Me
Hearing his answer, Isabelle sat up: “Really?” she asked.
“Really,” Damian said, looking her right in the eyes.
But to Isabelle, his sincerity felt forced. The more earnest he seemed, the sadder she felt.
Some things just aren’t that easy to let go. Otherwise, why has he been acting so weird lately?
She lay back down. Damian gently stroked her hair.
“Damian,” she said.
“Yeah?” he replied.
Isabelle looked into his eyes. He always looked at her so tenderly.
“If I ever did something you didn’t like, would you hate me?” she asked.
Damian’s hand stopped moving. “Then don’t do it,” he said.
Her expression wavered. “What if… I already did?” she asked, treading carefully.
A sharp pain shot through Damian’s chest.
Already did? Her and Anthony? What does she mean, “already did“?
He swallowed hard, his eyes starting to sting.
“Just don’t leave me,” he murmured, his voice barely audible.
Hearing that almost pleading tone, Isabelle couldn’t help but smile, “Are you dumb?”
He didn’t answer. Yeah, maybe I am.
If Isabelle really did something I can’t accept, forcing her to stay with me would only make her miserable. it’s better to let go.

Isabelle took his hand and placed it on her stomach. “I won’t leave you. The baby needs you. And i need you too.”

Just “need“? Damian looked down at her intently, a deep ache spreading through his chest. He wanted to feel better, but didn’t know how.
“What did you do that you think I wouldn’t like?” Damian pressed, wanting her to say it herself.
Isabelle smiled, “Nothing I was just asking. Don’t overthink it.”
She didn’t say it.
Damian rubbed his thumb over her stomach, his gaze fixed there.
If it weren’t for the baby, she probably wouldn’t even say these things. That has to be why.

The ache in his chest twisted tighter.
A knock sounded on the office door..
“Just rest here,” Damian said, getting up.
He went out, took the lunch bags from Bruce, and efficiently laid everything out on the table.
Seeing Damian’s troubled look, Bruce quietly left.
Sitting at the table, Isabelle could tell Damian had grown even more withdrawn.
She was starting to doubt her birthday plans for him. She’d prepared for so long, but was afraid it might just make him feel worse.
“Try this,” she said, putting a BBQ rib on his plate.
She’d gotten the recipe from Regina the night before, who had sent her a whole list of Damian’s favorite foods.
She’d planned to make it herself, but she wasn’t good at this dish. She decided to figure it out next time she was free.
“Is it okay?” Isabelle asked.
Damian nodded, forcing a small smile. “It’s good.”
Isabelle hummed in acknowledgment. Good. I’ll try Susie’s wayn
next time.
In the afternoon, Isabelle napped there. Damian stepped out, quietly closing the door, and called Anthony.
Damian said, “Free tonight? Want to grab a drink?”
Anthony hesitated.
Damian added, “There’s something I want

That evening, Damian had Bruce take Isabelle home, then went to the bar to meet Anthony.
Anthony hadn’t arrived yet, but Damian was already several drinks in by the time he got there.
Anthony’s hands still smelled faintly of machine grease; he’d just finished fixing the old record player.
He hadn’t really wanted to come when Damian called, but Damian said he needed to talk face–to–face. Anthony figured it was probably about Lydia.
She’d been bothering Isabelle lately. He’d warned her, but Lydia was stubborn, and he didn’t know how to stop her.
Damian poured him a drink. They clinked glasses.
Anthony waited for him to start, but Damian stayed quiet.
