Chapter 546 Are You Coming Alone?

In the days after the hurricane, she rarely saw him reply to messages.

Sometimes he’d answer a call, but it was always in a hurry before he hung up.

But he’d promised to be with her for Thanksgiving. Lynn waited from morning until afternoon, but he still wasn’t back. If she didn’t leave soon, dinner would start without her.

“Lynn, when are you getting here? You said you were coming this morning. Why aren’t you here yet? Is something wrong?” Betty’s anxious voice came over the phone.

Lynn was standing in the yard, a small suitcase beside her. She looked back at the house, then spoke into the phone. “I’m coming. I’m leaving now.”

There was a pause on the other end. Betty asked carefully, “Are you coming alone?”

Lynn hesitated. “Yeah.”

Betty was silent for a moment, too.

They hung up.

Lynn didn’t know where Lucas was. He’d only said the hurricane cleanup work wasn’t done and that he’d gone with the rescue team.

It was Thanksgiving. She’d thought about waiting here to see if Lucas would make it back. Now that they had the certificate, with him not here, she wasn’t sure whose home she should go to.

She wavered for a bit, but finally chose to go back to her own family’s house.

She dragged her suitcase to the car, opened the trunk, and lifted the luggage inside.

She never used to have much luggage. In the past, going home just meant grabbing her phone and walking out. But after living with Lucas, her belongings seemed to have multiplied.

After putting the suitcase in, she took one last look at the villa, then got in the car.

The moment she got in, Lucas‘ mother called.

Petra asked, “Lynn, are you still at home?”

Petra knew she was going back to her own family’s house, but she didn’t call her out on it. “Alright, you get some rest,” she said.

They hung up.

Nearby, Sandy came out of the kitchen carrying dishes. She saw the mix of joy and worry on Petra’s face and asked softly, “Are Lucas and Lynn coming back?”

Petra composed herself and smiled lightly. “They’ll be back tomorrow.”

Sandy asked again, “Isn’t Lucas back yet?”

Petra replied, “Not yet. Lynn is working overtime too.”

Sandy nodded slightly.

After leaving the villa. Lynn drove to Isadiana Studio.

She’d originally thought she’d be going back with Lucas. She’d gotten outfits for Petra and Alicia. Now, since she wasn’t going, she could at least send the gifts over. It wouldn’t be rude.

Just as she arrived at the studio, she saw Diana anxiously pacing in front of the door.

“What’s wrong?” Lynn asked, stopping the car.

Diana looked like she’d found a lifeline. “My car broke down. I have to deliver some clothes. Are you in a hurry? If not, could I borrow your car?”

Lynn looked at the gift boxes in the lobby. “Get in.”

“I love you!” Diana said, grabbing Lynn’s face and giving it a squeeze.

Diana put the clothes Lynn had ordered in the passenger seat. The rest went in the back.

Bonita didn’t go with them. She stayed in the studio to finish up the final organizing work. After this order. they could start their holiday.
