Chapter 550 Lynn’s Room
But she was already back. And now she had to leave with him?
“I…” Lynn looked at Gordon.
Gordon didn’t look back at her.
Lucas spoke, “Or we can stay here tonight and go back tomorrow.”
“We’ll go back tomorrow!” Lynn said quickly.
Lucas nodded.

Not wanting to disturb them, Gordon stood up. “You two chat. I’ll go have someone get a room ready for you.”
Lynn was stunned. A room? For us?
“Dad!”
“Hm?” Gordon had only taken two steps. He turned to look at her.
Lynn made desperate eye signals at him.
“Something in your eye?” Gordon asked.
Lynn was speechless. I think your eyes might be the ones with a problem. How hard is it to pick up on such an obvious hint?
Gordon left the study, quietly closing the door behind him.
The soft click of the latch shattered the last bit of hope in Lynn’s heart.
The newlyweds, who still felt a bit like strangers, were now alone in the study.
Lynn shifted on the sofa, grabbed a throw pillow, and hugged it to her chest. She stole a glance at him.
Lucas was watching her every little move intently.
“Are you mad?” he asked suddenly.
Lynn made a confused sound. “No, why would I be mad at you?”
I’m totally mad at you!
She pouted. He’d promised to come back so they could go home together. She’d waited nearly the whole day. Not a single call, no reply on WhatsApp.
Lucas nodded. “I was on the plane today. I missed your calls. I called as soon as I landed, but you didn’t
answer.”

Lynn listened to his explanation. She’d been busy helping Diana earlier and forgot to check her phone. She hadn’t seen Lucas‘ missed call.
“Come here,” Lucas said.
Lynn didn’t dare move. Her arms tightened around the pillow.
Lucas just looked at her. She hesitated for a few seconds, then finally inched a little closer to him.
Lucas looked at her hand, then took it in his.
Her fingers trembled slightly as she felt his rough skin rubbing against hers. She had no idea what he was doing.
His hand was warm, his skin hard. After being gone for over ten days, it felt like the calluses on his hands had multiplied.
Hers, by contrast, were soft, slightly plump, and pleasant to hold–the very definition of delicate.
“What’s wrong?” Lynn asked. It felt like it had been a long time since she’d been this close to him. She caught his familiar scent again.
He looked up slightly and gave her a small smile. “Nothing.”
Lynn’s breathing grew tighter. The study wasn’t small, but the air suddenly felt thin.
She gently pulled her hand back, and Lucas politely let go.
“Which room is yours?” Lucas asked.
Lynn’s face grew warm. Even though he probably just wanted to know where to stay, she still felt nervous.
“My luggage is still in the car,” Lucas added.
What a coincidence. So was Lynn’s.
“Let’s get the luggage first. I’ll show you,” Lynn said, quickly standing up and heading for the door.
A faint smile touched Lucas‘ lips. He stood and followed her.
They went downstairs and got their suitcases from the trunk.
Lucas looked at her luggage. Her family’s house wasn’t far from the villa.
She even packed a suitcase? Is she planning to stay for a while?
He reached out, took the handle of her rolling suitcase, and headed inside.
Lynn trailed after him, miserable. Someone, please save me!
I miss him when he’s gone, but I’m scared when he’s here. What kind of messed–up logic is that?
