Chapter 561 To Watch the Sunset
Lynn’s brain was racing.
If Sandy likes Charles, would she still be drinking that medicine?
Or does she not know about it?
Who, then, added that herb?
Lucas nudged her arm. “Not hungry?” he asked.
“No,” Lynn said. She really didn’t have an appetite.
She’d eaten a late breakfast, and now she was troubled by this discovery. She couldn’t eat.
But Petra had made this meal herself. Not eating wasn’t an option.
Lynn forced herself to keep eating. She also finished a whole bowl of soup.
By the time they got back to the room, she was already hiccupping.
Lucas sat nearby making coffee, watching her with amusement.
“You couldn’t eat it, yet you forced it down. You could’ve shared some with me,” he said.

Lynn looked at him and hiccupped again. Lucas had already taken quite a bit of food from her plate for himself.
“Did I embarrass you?” Lynn asked.
“No. I just think if you can’t even stop pushing yourself, how can you expect anyone else to love you?”
The words slipped out of Lucas‘ mouth, and the air in the room froze.
Lynn stared at him, her heart pounding wildly. He said, “Love you…”
“What I mean is, you don’t have to be perfect at everything. Always thinking about others will just wear you out,” Lucas explained.
Hearing him say that reminded Lynn of a quote she’d once read, “To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.”
She smiled. It was rare to hear such wise words from Lucas. She hiccupped again. “So, if I don’t want dinner tonight, would you mind?”
Lucas looked at her. “You don’t have to think about me, either.”
“I mean, not eating at your family’s house.”
Our life from now on is the two of us living it. You don’t have to consider other people.”

“Okay, then. I won’t eat,” Lynn said, leaning closer to him as she spoke.

Lucas looked at her smug, triumphant face leaning in. He could almost smell the faint citrus scent from her shower the night before.
His hand, resting of the chair, curled slightly. “Then I’ll take you out to walk it off,” he said.
“Okay. You make the plans,” Lynn said.
Lucas nodded with a soft hum.
Lynn turned and went back into the bedroom.
He placed a hand over his chest. His heart was pounding wildly.
Strange. I’ve been close to Lynn before, but it’s never felt like this.
When Lucas moved close to her, it didn’t feel like much. But whenever Lynn leaned in toward him, his heart would start racing.
That feeling makes my brain turn to mush.
He couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh.
“Stop grinning like an idiot. Where are we going?” Lynn was leaning against the doorframe, smiling as she watched him.
Lucas jumped, startled. The coffee cup in his hand shook, spilling a little.
Lynn laughed heartily by the door. He was definitely savoring the memory just now.
He looked at her.
This was the first time Lynn had laughed so freely in front of him.
“To watch the sunset,” Lucas said.
Lynn tapped her fingers lightly on the doorframe. Hearing him say they were going to watch the sunset sent a ripple through her heart.
“Okay,” she said.
She turned and went back into the room.
She lay on Lucas‘ bed, staring up at the ceiling. She pressed her hands to her chest, feeling her heartbeat.
I think I might like Lucas a little bit again. D
She shyly rolled over and buried her face in his pillow.

Lucas took a sip of his coffee, stood up, and went to the bedroom to find her.
Lynn had already changed her clothes. She was hanging both their clothes in his walk–in closet.
Their eyes met. “I’ll drive later,” Lynn said, stumbling over her words.

Lucas‘ back wasn’t fully healed, and she was afraid sitting for too long would tire him. Plus, he probably hadn’t slept well last night.
“Okay,” he said, glancing at his suitcase, which Lynn had already unpacked.
