Chapter 592 An Unexpected Visitor
Daisy rolled over on the couch and looked at her. “You know that older part of town, near downtown? It’s actually really quiet over there. I remember when I was putting up some ads in that area, there was this old house with a courtyard, and it had that bougainvillea you love so much–the deep pink kind–spilling right over the wall. It was gorgeous.”
It was the tail end of October, still warm enough that the bougainvilleas hadn’t faded. Hearing Daisy describe it, Lynn could already picture it.
“Is the place for rent?” she asked.
“No idea. But the old lady who lives there? She’s a real piece of work. Been on her own for decades, and she chases anyone off with a broom the second they get near. So yeah, the place is beautiful, but no one really goes close.”
Lynn’s face fell a little. “Well, okay then.”
“We could still sneak a peek if she heads out to get groceries or something.”
“Probably not a good idea. If she caught us and kicked us out, that’d be so awkward.”
Daisy just smiled and didn’t say anything else, closing her eyes again. Lynn went back to her book.
Daisy had just drifted off when the doorbell rang from the courtyard.
Lynn set the book down and walked out in her slippers.
Anthony was standing on the other side of the door, his face angled slightly away, keeping the left side out of view.
“Lucas asked me to stop by,” he said.
Lynn looked at him and felt a quiet pang of guilt. Noticing the bags he was carrying, she stepped aside and let him in.
Anthony walked straight inside, and Lynn grabbed the rest of the groceries from his trunk before following him in.
Til be dropping by every now and then over the next few days,” Anthony told her. Just let me know ahead of time if you need anything”
Lynn set the bags down in the kitchen
Lucas hadn’t wanted to ask just anyone to bring supplies or order takeout–too worried someone might recognize her. Damian was busy, and with two pregnant women to keep an eye on. Lucas had asked Anthony to take over
“Anthony” Lynn started, but he cut her off before she could finish

Lynn remembered–Lucas had mentioned it before he left, but she’d forgotten to bring it down.
The envelope was sealed; she had no idea what was inside.
She hurried upstairs.
Anthony watched her go, then let his gaze wander. It landed on Daisy, still fast asleep on the living room
sofa.
His feet seemed to move on their own, carrying him closer.
She’d gotten her hair done yesterday–soft curls that now spilled loosely across the sofa cushion.
Even with the waves, her hair still brushed her waist.
It was the first time Anthony had really looked at her this closely.
She was dressed the same way she’d been when he ran into her outside Isadiana Studio–jeans, but today she wore a loose cashmere sweater.
He caught himself staring. Asleep, Daisy looked soft and flushed, curled on her side with a pillow hugged to her chest. The hem of her sweater had ridden up slightly, just enough to show a sliver of her waist and the curve of her hip bone.
His gaze dropped to her stomach for a moment–Daisy even had a toned stomach.
She was really beautiful.
The thought hit him out of nowhere, and for a second, he just stood there. The rhythm in his chest gradually picked up.
Was his heart actually racing right now?
He swallowed, suddenly flustered, and reached for a throw blanket draped over the armchair nearby. Carefully, he laid it over her. Almost without thinking, his fingers brushed a loose strand of hair from her cheek and tucked it gently behind her ear.
He was captivated by the softness of her features, and for a moment, he just watched her.
Only when he heard Lynn coming back down the stairs did he snap out of it. He pulled his gaze away and stepped back.
Lynn handed him the envelope.
