Twisting around, Lynn pushed hard against his chest. Lucas pulled a pitiful look, like a hungry kid who’d never gotten a full meal.
She was too smart to fall for this two–faced act. “If you don’t want to sleep, go sleep in the guest room.
An arm shot out to yank her right back into his embrace, and Lucas rumbled, “I’m sleeping.”
His hand rested gently on the top of her head, and sleep came for her quickly after that.
A soft sigh slipped past his lips before he carefully slipped out of bed and padded into the bathroom to masturbate.
Exhaustion pulled Lynn into a deep, uninterrupted sleep until dawn.
The same couldn’t be said for Lucas.
A ten–plus–hour flight waited for them that morning.
Sunlight filtered through the clouds and the plane window, gilding the curve of Lynn’s cheek as she hunched over “Gone with the Wind“, the book Lucas had brought for her.
A silver chain dangled from the arms of her glasses, resting lightly against her delicate collarbone as she
read.
For Lucas, there was no more beautiful sight in the world than watching her slim fingers turn each page.
Even the air between them feels sweet, thick with that soft, warm glow.
Before he could think better of it, his hand curled around her chin, turning her face toward his.
Then he leaned in, kissing her slowly and softly. Caught completely off guard mid–chapter, Lynn froze, and the book slipped from her grasp to land at her feet.
She gaped up at him, wide–eyed, but Lucas kept his eyes closed, savoring the kiss.
His tongue brushed past her lips, and he didn’t let up even when she squirmed and struggled against him.
Lynn felt like he was going to devour her whole, right there in their first–class seats.
Footsteps down the aisle finally pulled him to a stop, but his gaze never left her face for even a second.
A smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth as Lucas brushed his thumb softly over her swollen lip.
“You creep!” Lynn blustered, her face flaming as she swatted his hand away.
Lucas pulled his hand back, satisfied, and swiped his own thumb over his mouth.

Tasted so sweet.
After the flight attendant passed by their row, Lynn twisted her head to stare hard out the window.
Lucas bent to pick up the fallen book, running his thumb over the worn cover before lifting his eyes back to her stiff profile.
He had tried to hold back, honestly.
But he just couldn’t help it–all he had wanted for the past hour was to kiss her.
Ugh, how pathetic. One little kiss and I’m already a mess.
A tight heat coiled low in her belly. She never saw this coming–Lucas kissing her out of the blue mid- flight, and the heat in her ears just would not go down.
His hand reached out to ruffle her hair, but she swatted it away. When she twisted back to snap at him, she spotted a faint smudge of her lipstick on the corner of his mouth.
Lynn bit back a laugh and just pointed to her own lip to clue him in.
Lucas grinned, wiping the smudge away with his thumb.
“Tasted so sweet,” he said, unapologetic.
Lynn mumbled under her breath, “Next time I’ll eat a whole blue cheese before I let you kiss me.”
Lucas was left speechless.
Furrowing her brow, she watched him slouch back into his seat, that lazy, carefree grin on his face that made her want to smack him.
He reached out to pinch her cheek, smiled, and said, “Alright, I’ll stop teasing you.”
He returned the book to her, drew a blanket over his lap, and turned his face in her direction before settling into rest with closed eyes.
Between her sore legs from the night before and the gentle rumble of the plane, Lynn did not get more than a few more pages in before drowsiness pulled her under.
She did not even remember the ride to the hotel once they landed.
Lucas‘ assistant came along on the trip, and he handled hauling all their luggage, leaving Lucas free to carry Lynn wherever they went.
No complaints, either–whatever she asked for, whether a piggyback or a bridal carry, he did it without a word.
The second Lynn leaned against him, her whole body went limp, all energy spent.
His assistant just trailed along silently behind them, choosing to ignore the couple’s sappiness.
