“Go change,” Joseph said, not looking at her.
Grace scurried back to her room.
When she came out, she was wearing a modest sweatshirt and pants.
Joseph was already in the kitchen, making soup.
“Still have a fever?” He glanced at her.
“Yes.”
“You took a shower with a fever?” He
muttered under his breath.

She looked down and didn’t answer. She’d been burning up all night. Her clothes and hair were soaked. If she hadn’t washed, she would have stunk.
Joseph took a thermometer gun from the cabinet and checked her temperature.
“Go sit over there.” He tilted his head toward the sofa.
Grace obediently went and sat down.
Joseph mixed her some fever reducer.
“Sorry to put you through this,” she said, embarrassed.
“I’m hungry,” Joseph said. “Mind if I eat here?”
She shook her head.
She’d love that. The longer he stayed, the better.
After the few times they’d interacted, she’d figured out that Joseph was a fake thug. He wasn’t dangerous.
Her grandfather spoke highly of him. Everyone around here seemed to like him.
The only people who were scared of him were little kids, and that was because adults used him as a bogeyman.
After taking her medicine, Grace went back to bed and fell asleep.
Joseph finished up in the kitchen, then stood by her bed, hands on his hips, watching her.
She might work.
He looked at his coat hanging on the rack. It had been ironed. His work jacket from earlier was folded on
the sofa.

He didn’t take anything. He left her apartment and went upstairs.
The moment he stepped into the penthouse, his phone rang. It was Daisy.
“You’re awake?” Joseph’s voice dripped with sarcasm.

“Are you serious? First you use my daughters to pick up girls, now you’re borrowing my apartment? That’s crossing a line.”
Joseph looked around the empty penthouse. Anthony had taken everything. All that was left were the window screens.
“Don’t you dare say anything to Mom and Dad,” Joseph warned.
Daisy pouted. Anthony walked in carrying a tray of food
“You’d better pay me for my silence.”
“Ask your husband.”
Joseph didn’t want to deal with her. He hung up.
Anthony set the tray on the nightstand. “Your brother?”
“Yes.”
He smiled but didn’t say anything. “Do you want to eat at the table or in bed?”
“In bed.” She was still in her nightgown and didn’t feel like moving.
Anthony looked at her. “Fine.”
He sat beside her, picked up the bowl, and fed her.

Daisy leaned against the headboard, watching him as she ate.
“What?” Anthony asked.
“Being older has its perks.”
He took care of her.
She really didn’t want to get up. She didn’t want to move./Anthony had no restraint this morning. And he didn’t seem to care who heard.
The corner of Anthony’s mouth lifted. “Just that one? Nothing else?”
Daisy kept eating and didn’t answer.
He was getting more and more inappropriate.

Chapter 696 The House Call
After she finished, Daisy wanted to go back to sleep. Anthony pulled her up.
“Don’t sleep right after eating. Get up and walk around.”
“No. This is your fault.” Her thighs were sore.
“You’re the one who said I was bad at it.”
Daisy pressed her lips together, got up, and walked to the walk–in closet.
Anthony stood at the vanity, watching her change.
He hadn’t even been that rough. And yet her skin was already bruised.

He reached out and touched one. Daisy flinched and pulled away, looking at him like he might want
another round.
He pulled his hand back. “Do
it hurt?”
Daisy twisted to look at her back and frowned.
She knew he held her tight. But she hadn’t realized he’d left marks.
“Yes.”
Her eyes were full of accusation as she kept dressing.
She sat at her makeup table and looked at herself in the mirror. There were two faint marks on her neck.
