Chapter 881 Ludi in the Flesh
Chapter 881 Ludi in the Flesh
Keith spotted Claudia out in the yard as well.
She’d never been particularly fond of Claudia–not since the way parents had reacted when Claudia briefly took over her class. It rubbed her the wrong way, honestly. But she needed to keep her position at Willow Studio, so she’d let it slide.
Today, she’d come along with a friend who’d recently moved back from overseas. That friend mentioned Stella had invited Ludi, so Keith decided to tag along out of curiosity.
Running into Claudia here was unexpected… and now she couldn’t help but want to see what Claudia was really made of.
She nudged her way through the gathering and stood off to the side, watching closely.
Claudia’s calligraphy was unquestionably fluid–her brush moved like running water. Whatever Stella’s friends asked her to write, she put it down effortlessly. No copying, no hesitating. It was as if her hands simply knew what to do, forming each character smoothly and confidently.
When the moment came to put pen to paper, Keith spotted the elegant set of personal signet pieces Claudia had brought with her.
These finely crafted heirloom–quality signets were no ordinary store–bought trinkets, nor were they cheap by any measure. Few people would ever commission a complete matched set of this scale purely for private use. It was undeniably exquisite.
To casual onlookers, they merely seemed like a fancy accessory for signing documents. But anyone with a discerning eye recognized their true value and significance.
“I heard from her son that her husband carved those for her,” someone nearby murmured.
“She has a son?”
“Yeah, he was running around earlier. Probably went to the backyard once it got crowded.”
“Her husband is Harold–you know, Damian’s kid who never listened to anyone.”
“No way. Why would Ms. Bowman marry him?”
“Shh, keep it down…”
Their whispers faded, but Keith caught every word.
The whole wedding–dress fallout with Molly had already ended their friendship. Even though the intern she’d sent over never confessed to anything, nobody really bought the excuse.
Claudia finished her last piece and set the brush down.
Just then, Robin spoke up. “Ms. Bowman.”

“So you’re Ms. Bowman? Lovely handwriting to match a lovely person–no wonder my Robin hasn’t stopped talking about you!”
The woman beside Robin was his mother, Susan. From her tone, Randall clearly hadn’t mentioned Robin’s earlier crush on Claudia. Though Robin did seem less like that shy kid now–Randall must’ve talked to him.
“You’re too kind,” Claudia replied with a light smile.
Susan turned to Stella. “Funny how things work out. You mentioned lately how much you admired Ludi’s work, and my brother happened to pass me a piece. I was meaning to get it to you, and now here we are running into Ms. Bowman in person.”
She then had Robin unroll the scroll Claudia had sent Randall at Timothy’s
Keith was puzzled.
What did she mean, “funny how things work out“?
“Oh, let me see!” Stella hurried over to help open it fully.
The scroll was unrolled, and the onlookers gathered near. Keith softly read out the title.
Claudia caught the words, turned her head, and smiled faintly–an amused glint hiding in her expression. The subtle teasing was easy to overlook, yet Keith saw it clearly.
Just then Robin spoke up with assured amusement. “You’ve all misread the character, Ms. Denton included. Its proper pronunciation is quite different from what you’ve heard.”
A ripple of understanding passed through the group.
Keith forced an awkward smile. “You really do learn something new every day.”
Murmurs rose from the onlookers.
“Who’s Ms. Denton?”
“She came with that woman who moved back from abroad. I think she’s the calligraphy tutor for the Holcombs‘ kid…”
“Wait, she’s a calligraphy teacher?”
Doubts about her credentials began to surface. Eyes turned toward her, curious and questioning.
Even Susan frowned slightly in Keith’s direction.
Back when Claudia taught those two days, some parents had questioned her in the group chat. Now it didn’t seem like mere gossip.
