Chapter 892 Hector’s Gift Card
The woman looked over at Claudia, then offered a soft smile as she stood up.
“Hello,” Harvey said, his eyes drifting to the infant nestled in her arms.
“Hello,” she replied warmly.
“So you’re…” Harvey began, a swirl of emotions tightening his chest. He felt he already understood.
The woman gently retrieved a gift card tucked in the baby’s blanket and handed it to him. “This is for her.”
Harvey accepted the card. His hand trembled slightly, but his gaze remained fixed on the child in her arms.
The baby looked unmistakably like Hector–the resemblance was clear.
“We’re doing just fine,” the woman said softly, looking down at the sleeping infant. A tender smile touched her lips. “He was in a rush when he came by last time. Asked me to wait a little longer, promised he’d be back when he could. He didn’t want Claudy to worry.”
Harvey nodded slowly. “Alright.”
“Thank you… for everything you’ve done.”
“Of course.”
With a supportive hand from the nanny, the won turned and left.
Harold had knocked back quite a few drinks by the time he spotted Harvey standing alone in the crowd, staring blankly at the gift card in his hands.
Sensing Harold’s eyes on him, Harvey glanced over.
Harold waved him over, and Harvey made his way through the guests.
“Where’ve you been? Another minute and they would’ve finished me off,” Harold said, clapping a hand on Harvey’s shoulder but leaving it at that.
Harvey eyed the row of shot glasses on the table. “Pushing it this hard? None of you is even married yet. Think about what you’re doing.”
The group erupted into laughter.
In the end, Sebastian and Harvey took the heat for everyone. But when Claudia stepped in and asked them to take it easy, the crowd agreed to cut the penalty in half.
On the flight home, Harold was clearly drunk.
Dolores had warned Claudia earlier that she ought to practice holding her liquor–otherwise, on her wedding day. Harold would be the one drinking from start to finish.
And sure enough, that was exactly what happened.
Claudia glanced at Harold, now dozing against her shoulder, and reached up to brush his cheek.
Half–conscious, Harold caught her hand. “Baby…”
“I’m right here,” Claudia whispered.
He forced his eyes open to look at her, then gently pulled her onto his lap. Wrapping both arms around her, he rested his chin on her shoulder and held her close.
The driver quickly raised the privacy partition.
Still in her wedding dress, Claudia at sideways on his lap. Then she felt the warm press of his lips against her shoulder.
“Harold… we’re in the car,” she murmured softly.
And they weren’t headed back to Serene Manor that night–they were staying at Cross Manor.
If anyone saw them like this, it would be beyond awkward.
“Had a few drinks. Felt like clearing my head.”
