Chapter 902 Caught in the Act
You came home looking totally spaced out, then dove under the ever’s muffering to soltell would’ve thought you were having some kind of episode! Amanda heid been seriously weird,
But when she realized it was Harvey they were talking about she eased up a little.
At least it wasn’t some random sketchy guy.
Whenever Dolores was stuck on a problem or something was eating at her, she’d always retreat under blankets.
Amanda took one look and knew something was off.
They’d both knocked before coming in–Dolores just hadn’t heard.
Amanda had been afraid she was still hung up on Carson, so she’d hurried into the room.
She never expected to hear what came out of her daughter’s mouth next!
Harvey had actually kissed her!
Amanda couldn’t tell whether that was good news or bad news.
Dolores looked utterly defeated. “I… I’m fine. Both of you, just go. I really need to sleep.”
“Fine?! You call this fine?” Quentin’s brow furrowed. He was about to raise his voice, but when he caught Harvey’s name still glowing on her phone screen, his tone softened. “You and Harvey… exactly how far has this gone?”
Dolores‘ cheeks flushed even deeper. “Dad! Mom! There’s nothing going on!”
“Nothing? And you let him kiss you? Did he pressure you?” Quentin’s protective instincts kicked in hard.
“No!”
There was no way she could explain this clearly.
How could she possibly tell them she was the one who’d coached Harvey on how to chase someone–and that someone turned out to be her? O
Even if she said it, no one would believe her!
Amanda could see Dolores was getting overwhelmed, so she gently pulled at Quentin’s sleeve. “Why are you raising your voice? Let her speak.”
Quentin settled down a notch and asked more gently, “So… what are you two now?”
Should she say Harvey was pursuing her?
What if he woke up tomorrow claiming he was too drunk to remember any of it–wouldn’t that be even more humiliating
And she was the one who’d taught hiin all those movest
What had she been thinking, giving Harvey dating advice like that?
“Just… please stop asking.” Dolores mumbled, at a loss for words. “We just… It was an accident
“An accident?” Amanda and Quentin said in unison, voices rising.
“What kind of accident? You two… you didn’t…” Quentin’s face actually tinted pink.
Dolores rushed to explain, “Dad! Nothing happened. He was just… he’d had a lot to drink, and we….our touched once. That’s it!”
“Ugh! You guys!” The more she talked, the messier it sounded. She scrambled out of bed and started ushering both of them toward the door.
“Don’t jump to conclusions! Seriously, nothing’s going on!” She gently pushed them into the hallway. “And don’t you dare ask him about it! Don’t speculate, okay? Just… give me a little dignity here. Please!”
With that, Dolores shut the door and clicked the lock.
This was bad. Really, really bad.
She climbed back into bed, pulled the comforter over her head, and disappeared underneath.
“Harvey, you total jerk…”
