Still feeling a little let down, Sylvara suddenly remembered-Blake was a woman in disguise. If her fertility value was off the charts, maybe even 100, why hadn’t she had any kids after all these years of marriage to His Majesty?
That totally went against every romance novel plot. With her kind of “buff,” wasn’t she supposed to have a kid every one or two years?
So, how did it turn into infertility for Blake?
She had been married to King Relos for decades without a single child? That was simply ridiculous.
Blake let out a sigh, sounding exasperated. “Negotiation failed again. Guess it’s time to draw some blood. Come on, show your weapon.”
Sylvara wasn’t as sweet and innocent as she made out to be, and Blake was just as much of a troublemaker.
She was the one supposed to be taking her clothes off, but in the end, she never did.
Sylvara lifted her brow. “I don’t have the strength to hurt a fly. I’ve got no weapon, so I’ll have to fight bare- handed.”
She finished speaking, then shot from the treetop at Blake like a flash of light.
Blake’s long knife shimmered with icy light, transforming instantly into a blade of ice. Gripping the handle with both hands, she slashed at Sylvara.as she charged.
She didn’t fight back at all—just like she said, she was going to fight bare-handed. She went in for close combat, unarmed, blocking the blade with her body.
The ice blade was just about to strike Sylvara when Blake’s violet eyes narrowed. Then, with a subtle twist, she pulled the blade away.
In that split second, Sylvara struck. With one hand hooked onto the back of the blade, she spun her body around with its momentum.
Her other hand grabbed Blake by the collar, eyes full of mischief. “Sorry, my dear sister-in-law, but I really want to see those abs of yours!”
As she spoke, there was a loud rip.
Just as she was about to tear open Blake’s collar, Blake’s and clamped down hard.
With one hand pinning Sylvara’s and the other flipping her blade, Blake said, “Sweetheart, you come at me with your bare hands, and I can’t even bring myself to hurt you. But why go for a sneak attack?”
Sylvara’s eyes sparkled with excitement, her hand still on the back of the blade.
Blake twisted her hand, as if to stab her, but just couldn bring herself to do it.

With a big grin, Sylvara tossed it back, “Great teachers ake great students, right? All my sneak attacks, I learned from you. You had 300 thousand people sneak up on me on this planet, and I haven’t even brought it up yet. And now you want to play innocent?”
Blake’s grip tightened, but she kept laughing. “I never plly innocent. I always honor my debts and respect my opponent.
“Sweetheart, you’re so impressive, I can’t see through you at all. You’ve got me so curious, it’s actually driving me crazy.”
Sylvara gave her a wide grin. “My dear sister-in-law, youre just saying what I’m thinking. If you won’t show off those abs, my heart’s just itching. How about this-le me see your abs and let me check if you’re a man or a woman, and then I’ll answer your question?”
She kept her grip tight, so Sylvara’s hand never left her collar. Even though the collar was ripped, she couldn’t get a peek at that pale neck to check for an Adam’s apple.
“How about you answer me first, then I’ll show you?” Blake bargained. “Come on, I won’t press you about your disguise. Just tell me where you’re from. And what species?”
Why was she so obsessed with where she was from?
Should she just tell her the truth-that she was a real Hesperian from ancient Earth, their ancestor from over three thousand years ago?
