The small device flew around the room, sending out thin red lines of light.

The red lines swept across the walls and ceiling. After one full circle, a green line lit up in the southwest corner.

Blake rushed that way. She reached into the corner of the couch and dug out a tiny listening device. She flicked it into her spatial button like it was nothing.

The red-line device zipped into the bedroom. Blake followed at once and pulled out another hidden listener from inside.

Sylvara stayed close behind her, completely stunned. They had only come to the auction. They were just staying at a hotel. And yet there was already this much trouble.

People in the Interstellar Era were exhausting.

Back in her old days, fighting zombies was simple. You swung your blade, and the problem was

gone.

Blake went back and sat on the couch. She looked at Sylvara and said, “Don’t be surprised. This is basic stuff. This hotel is one of the places all auction guests are required to stay.

“Anyone coming to the auction has to stay here for a full twenty-four hours. Only then can they use their ticket to enter the auction hall.

“So many rules,” Sylvara said as she sat down too. Then she leaned closer and pointed sneakily toward the next room. “Daddy, I really think the two people in room 8808 are strange. Especially the tall one. His eyes. His presence. He feels military to the bone.”

She didn’t dare to say it out loud that, he felt like her bargain-bin husband.

Blake raised her brows and smiled. “Does he feel like a soldier,” she asked lightly, “or like your honey?”

Sylvara blinked, shocked. “Daddy, what do you mean?”

Blake narrowed her eyes. “Exactly what you think I mean.”

Sylvara’s eyes went wide. She pulled her hand back, then pointed again at the wall. She paced back and forth a few times before blurting out, “That tall guy is really my husband? Didn’t you say he wouldn’t be bored enough to come to an auction?”

“I did,” Blake said, spreading her hands innocently. “I didn’t expect him to be this free. Looks like the Swarmborn are scared stiff. Their crown prince died by his hand, so they won’t move

The worst of her two lives combined.

Sylvara stood up and bowed deeply at a full ninety degrees. “Senior, your flirting skills are incredible. I admit defeat,” she said seriously. “May I ask, are you confident in your disguise work?”

Blake cleared her throat. She casually pulled a small bottle from her spatial button. It was a press-style spray. She tossed it to Sylvara. “Skin disguise spray,” Blake said. “It covers every tiny detail on the skin and looks just like real skin. It’s waterproof, fire-resistant, doesn’t peel, and lasts at least three months. With this, you won’t have to worry about Agares catching you through some tiny giveaway.”

She continued, sounding proud. “As for disguise skills, haven’t you heard the saying? If your theory and practice are solid, you can go anywhere without fear. Back in the day, I graduated first in Intelligence Studies at the First Military Academy. Voice change, body change, face change-those are basic skills.”

She snorted. “Your dear honey’s disguises don’t impress me at all. That barely counts as a disguise. He just dresses up a little. He didn’t even hide the details. Otherwise, how do you think I recognized him at first glance?”

Really?

This bastard is that good?

Sylvara picked up the skin disguise spray and sprayed it on her hand. The small mole on her skin vanished at once. There was no difference between the sprayed area and her real skin.
