Take Me Once, I'll Bleed You Twice novel Chapter 181

Chapter 181

CLAIRE

Whatever charm Marlow had used only quieted Claire’s complaining body. Her muscles were still shaking from the exertion and he was in no shape to keep running. What the witch had done would quickly be undone if she kept pushing herself.

Something out of the corner of her eye caught Claire’s attention and she threw up a ward just in time for a dark grey wolf to slam into it. The wolf was thrown back a few meters but quickly shook off the blow. Gold eyes locking on Claire with a fierceness that made her nervous – because she really needed something more to worry about just then.

It stalked towards her more cautiously this time. Claire’s heart raced as she watched and drew on what little magic she had left. Without the twins, she didn’t have the reserves to cast spells willy-nilly and the ward she’d used to stop the wolf had drained a fair bit of her magic.

Being able to weave complex spells but unable to cast them due to lack of magic was a sore spot for the woman. It was irritating that the twins’ reserve was as large as hers was small. It wasn’t fair but that was life. Without them by her side to feed their magic to her, Claire was closer to the status of ‘sitting duck’ than anything else. And, at that particular moment, said sitting duck was being hunted by a wolf.

A very vicious and angry looking wolf.

Claire took a step back only for the wolf to snarl, causing her body to freeze. Not helpful. How was she suppose to get the hell out of there if her body refused to move? “Nice doggy,” she found herself saying. Of course, the doggy in question only snarled louder. That’s right. Piss off the thing that wants to tear you to bits. Good job.

There was a loud boom off to one side but Claire ignored it, unable to look away from the wolf. She watched as its muscles coiled and knew she had no time to weave together anything more than a basic protective ward and, even then, it wouldn’t be of much use.

The swish of leaves being scattered was followed by the russet wolf sliding to a stop in front of Claire, its back to her as it growled at the approaching beast.

which left… It was protecting her? Why? Who the hell was this wolf? Neither Donovan not his Gamma were that colour — and they were busy elsewhere

who?

The russet wolf’s ears were flat against its head, its tail partially tucked between its legs, but that didn’t stop it from growling as it stood firm. From the look of it, this one didn’t want to fight the other, so why was it standing in the way?

“Marlow…?,” Claire called out in a shaky voice.

“Big guy’s down,” the witch replied. “I… may have over done it a bit.”

“Got any more marbles?”

“Fresh out.”

The dark beast lunged. The russet wolf met it mid air and a savage fight between the two canines ensued. Both snarled as they struck at one another with tooth and claw. From Claire’s vantage point, they looked evenly matched. Until the second enforcer arrived.

What the hell was Donovan doing? Had the enforcer killed him? Fuck. If he was dead, that meant his Gamma definitely wouldn’t have stood a chance against that horde si wolves and their giant buddy, with or without the fae playing the role of annoying little shits.

Or… got? Wolf Donovan

he’d called his wolf Bahiti, if she remembered correctly – appeared, in hot pursuit of his target. Claire thanked any and all deities that the Alpha was still alive.

Chapter 181 –

Something tells me the big guy isn’t happy! killed their friend, Marlow muttered.

“Wait, what? You killed it?” Claire gaped at the witch before glaring over at the body of the wolf in question. It looked like its head had been blow apart from the inside. “What the hell did you do?!”

“I chucked a bunch of Blow Me Balls when its mouth was open. They went boor; then its head went boom.”

“….Blow Me Balls?” Claire echoed with a grimace. “Seriously, Marlow?”

“What’s wrong with the name? I blew its head off with my balls. The name is perfect.”
