Take Me Once, I'll Bleed You Twice novel Chapter 183

RIAGHAIRE

Riaghaire couldn’t help it; he had to continuously check that his gréine was still alive as he ran. Normally he would have been able to hear her heartbea with ease but it was so weak he worried it would stop without his noticing.

Even if he ran full speed, it would take a couple hours to reach the city – he had less than one before the spell wore off. That meant he needed an alter plan. If he couldn’t get her to Kaleidoscope, what other options were there?

The most important thing was finding a way to keep her alive once the spell wore off. Could present-day humans do such a thing? Were medical professionals able to keep a person from crossing over? Technology had advanced far more than Riaghaire understood so it didn’t feel like a huge leap to expect them to be able to keep her alive should her heart cease beating.

Mind made up, he now had to figure out where the nearest doctor or hospital was located. It was the first time he’d felt the need to own one of those phones that gave a person access to the world’s knowledge. If he’d had one, and understood how to use it like his gréine did, he could’ve found where he

needed to go.

Since that wasn’t an option, he chose the next best thing: standing in the middle of the road as a vehicle came barreling at them. The driver laid on the

horn,, causing the vampire’s ears to ring, but he refused to move so much as a muscle. They would tell him where to go even if he had to mesmer them ir

cooperating.

The tires squealed as the vehicle came to a stop with less than a meter to spare. He debated how best to approach; should he bother attempting to be kin or go with a mesmer from the beginning? Why was he wasting time thinking about this? Just mesmer them and there wouldn’t be anything to worry abou

Problem solved.

Before he’d taken a step, the front passenger door flew open. “You’re Riaghaire…?

He froze upon hearing his name and squinted against the brightness of the vehicle’s headlights – they made it so his night vision was useless when shone

directly in his face.

“Shit, it is him. Cut the engine.”

“The fuck you mean cut the engine? I should back the fuck up and never look back!”

“I said cut the engine,” the first voice barked and whoever had been putting up a fuss did as they’d been ordered.

Chin.

Silence reigned and Riaghaire could finally see. The person who’d stepped out of the vehicle was a woman; tall, skinny but not thin, and she moved like she knew how to fight. Dangerous. The woman was dangerous.

She was also a wolf. This was the last thing he wanted to deal with.

Riaghaire bent his knees as he steadied himself, balancing on the balls of his feet. He barred his teeth and waited to see what they would do. So long as he kept one alive, he could force them to divulge the information he sought. Okay. Plan made, he was ready for whatever happened.

“Where’s my dad, Riaghave?… Is Beatrice okay?”

Not what he was expecting to hear. Who was her father? There was only one person within their group who had a daughter – as far as the vampire was aware which narrowed it down rather nicely.

“Avery Mchezaji?,” he asked, keeping himself at the ready in case this was some kind of trap.
