Take Me Once, I’ll Bleed You Twice
Chapter 189
Oh, great, now there’s black market soul trading going on. How could this get arr; worse? No, no, Beatrice admonished herself. Do not even think about how things could be worse. Now isn’t the time to jinx it and actually make shit worse.
“So… I’m still confused. Why would you want a human soul?”
The Moon Goddess put on a thoughtful expression and hummed for a moment. “Well, that’s… complicated.”
“Give me the cliffnotes.”
“Cliffnotes?”
“… abbreviate the story into a few short sentences.” Good god, it was like dealing with Gaml. It suddenly hit Beatrice why this place felt so familiar: Gam’s room. Of course it’d been wildly different in appearance but the feel of it was identical.
Did that mean Gaml was a fucking god?
Beatrice wanted to throw up. Having lived her life rejecting the notion of gods and goddesses and whatever higher power was out there, only to have – possibly met two in span of a single month, was just too much.
“Genetic diversity.”
Say what? “So… you traded a soul to, what, stop incest from happening?”
has
The goddess laughed. “Not quite. Perhaps ‘genetic’ is not the right word… but it’s close enough. Allow me to explain. I knew that, one day, my pups werd risk extinction. They are strong and fierce, able to survive even the harshest of climates, but they are also territorial and unwilling to compromise lead to much pointless bloodshed. When the first pack was born, in a time long past, their numbers were many and, for a time, they thrives.”
“What changed?” As apex predators, Beatrice couldn’t think of anything that might make the Moon Goddess believe her wolves would one day
extinction.
“My pups were not the only species to thrive, nor were they invincible. As their numbers grew, they required more land. Soon there were dispaties the different species, as they all wished to expand into the territory of another. Fae. Elf. Shifters. Wolf.. Inter species wary broke out
“Within the pack, many voices meant many opinions. Conflicts arose when they coulshi’t agree on what to do and thus the s packs and scattering the world over.
“As a whole, they could have easily survived for an eternity but, ongs separated, they could never be as one aph The own means little and thus I foresaw that, one day, my pups would be no more”
“… and that made you want to get your hands up a human soul still not getting it
Smiling serenely, the goddess said, “Trumans have proven reshent Though they are inherently weak this have used through the worst at Not only that, they’ve thrived to the point they now have the highest population compared to all other sposa chuot Why sunatel creature for myself, to usiuse some of those traits into my own pipe!
The sick fecting in Beatrice’s gut only worsened it felt like she was about to be told a really bad press of news fitstral her south shut less chance of her dinner making an appearance that way

For second the goddess was silent, then burst into a fit of giggles. “You really are something.” she said between fits. “I am so glad you were the soul I was
given. You have been, by far, the most interesting thing to watch in recent centuries.”
Did that mean what Beatrice though it meant? That the Moon Goddess had been spying on her like some creepy, perverted stalker? Because, uh, gross much. “Well, I don’t appreciate being the butt of this joke of yours.”
“I’m well aware,” the goddess grinned. “And that is what has made it so enjoyable. It’s very difficult to predict what you will do.”
