Take Me Once, I'll Bleed You Twice novel Chapter 95

Chapter 95

“The first century is the most important, he replied without hesitation. “Though most vampires do not grow enough in power within the first hundred years, surviving them is a sign that they have the potential to be formidable. The title of Old begins to be used after the second century. Power, however, is more fluid term. A fledgling can be a Power, though it is rare.”

“And this Master is both Old and a Power,” Beatrice groaned as she rested her head on the table. “You’ve got to be kidding me. I somehow got the attention of some ancient vampire. And let’s not forget being a mutt’s mate, Why am I so unlucky?”

“It gets worse,” Claire chimed in. “Ignoring the Master’s summons will only make her resort to less… polite methods.”

“Are you honestly telling me to go meet with this chick?”

“Hell no,” the blond snapped. “I’d rather you stay among the living, thanks, but I also know there’s no way to get out of it, either.”

“Think she’d be open to meeting at Kaleidoscope?,” Beatrice half laughed, half wanted to cry.

“Not a chance. She’d never step foot in here while the protections are in place. That’d be suicide for someone like her, since she’s survived this long by being a Power. Actually… now that I think about it, I don’t even know if the protections here would work on her… Now that’s a terrifying thought.”

“Do you think Bobby would wanna join us to meet the Master?” It was a long shot, but Beatrice was feeling desperate.

“You’re joking, right?”

“…well… no… kinda? Can you blame me?”

Claire sighed. “Bobby only stays here because there’s some oath or… I don’t even know what, between him and the boss. You’d need to get the boss to agree to it, and with the protections not at full power… it’s not happening. Kaleidoscope comes first.”

“Figures,” Beatrice muttered, unhappy.

There was a brief silence before Claire broke it by saying, “I would suggest… if you decide to meet the Master, to schedule it for sometime during the day.”

“But…”

“I get your vampire wouldn’t be able to do much, but neither would they,” she explained, not giving Beatrice a chance to speak. “It also means I vad go with

a sure she can, but she shouldn t have to. This Master probably wants to know how I ‘tamed’ a vampire, which is so stupid. You’re far from tame fu you think she knows I’m a wolf’s fated mate? Is there a chance she’s trying to get me to meet her under the assumption it’s about you, when really it s about getting the upper hand on the wolves?”

Riaghaire shook his head. “I cannot say one way or another. It is always a possibility. Any of those who witnessed the attack yesterday would know, to some extent, that there is a connection between you and the wolves.”

“Do you think you’ll be able to keep me safe if we met with the Master?”

He hesitated. “I… am unsure. She is an Old Power, with a brood at her command. I am… only one vampire. if I fought without worry, there is a minute chance I may achieve victory, however…”

“If you’re protecting me you’ll be fighting with a handicap,” Beatrice finished for him. “Fair enough. Is there a way to make me less… tasty to vampires?”
