Chapter 64: Ezra’s Confession

Riley’s POV

Odin and Silas burst out of the woods, both breathing hard. Odin’s gaze landed on my hand around Olivia’s throat, and his whole face drained of color.

“No, wait!” he shouted.

Silas stopped a few feet behind him, chest heaving. “We heard noise over here and came to check it out. Caught her confession.”

He shot Olivia a look of pure disgust.

Olivia made a desperate choking sound and clawed harder at my wrist. “No-Odin, help me-

Odin took another step toward me. “Please,” he said, his voice rough and shaking. “Don’t do this.”

My whole body was still humming with anger. “You heard everything. So you know what she did. The silver nail. Selling me out.”

Odin swallowed hard, his eyes full of pain. “I know. And I know she doesn’t deserve your forgiveness, but… she’s still my sister.”

I stared at him.

He looked wrecked. His golden hair had dulled to almost white, and his blue eyes had lost their spark.

He looked nothing like the charming Alpha’s son I’d had a crush on when I was a little girl.

“I’m begging you,” he said quietly.

I sighed internally and loosened my grip. Olivia collapsed to the ground, coughing violently and clutching her throat. Odin rushed to her, wrapping his arms around her.

Ezra made an angry sound behind me. “You’re being soft. You know she won’t thank you.”

“I know. But still-”

He cut me off sharply. “Are you doing this for her? Or for Odin?”

His eyes were flashing with that familiar madness and possessiveness. I knew how much my history with Odin bugged him, so I chose not to answer and turned to Silas instead.

“We can’t stay on the same team as her anymore,” I said to Silas. “You’and Odin find somewhere safe nearby and leave her. What she does for the rest of the competition isn’t our problem anymore.”

Silas nodded. He went over to Odin, and together they pulled Olivia up from the ground and headed into the woods.

“We’ll wait for you nearby,” he said before leaving.

Once my teammates had disappeared into the trees, I turned back to Ezra. His jaw was still tight, like he was on the edge of losing his temper.

“Done playing merciful?” he said darkly.

I ignored the edge in his voice and smiled. “Time to say goodbye for real now. Your teammates must be waiting.”

He pulled me into his arms and growled in my ear, “I don’t like seeing you go soft just because he asked.”

Chapter 64: Ezra’s Confession

Letting Olivia go wasn’t because of Odin. It was complicated. I didn’t know how to explain it to Ezra.

“Thank you,” I finally said. “For… everything.”

His expression softened a little. “Consider leaving your team and joining ours? Now’s the perfect chance to walk away.”

“No. I still plan on winning with the only two teammates I have left. So you better be ready.”

“Ambitious,” he chuckled. “Then you better be ready when you lose. Remember our bet? It still stands.”

I remembered what the loser had to do, and my face flushed.

“What about them?” I nodded at the others. They were still standing frozen in place, staring at us with terrified

eyes.

“You go. I’ll deal with these losers,” Ezra squeezed my hand.

The look in his eyes told me he wanted to pull me back into his arms and kiss me hard. But too many eyes were watching. We couldn’t. The heat in his gaze made my body burn too.

So I stepped back quickly and ran into the forest before things got out of hand.

Winning this competition had just gotten harder. But that only fired me up more.

I will prove everyone wrong.

I was ready for that.

Ezra’s POV

By the time I was done with them, the air in the clearing reeked of blood.

Kade lay on the ground unconscious. Camila was under a tree, groaning in pain. And I had my hand around Danica’s throat while she begged in tears:

“No, please… Ezra…”

Her voice was beautiful. Her face and body were gorgeous. I could still remember how she’d rocked her butt beneath me, wrapping her long legs around my waist, begging me to fuck her harder. That was a scene that would drive any man crazy.

Yet strangely, when I thought about it now, I felt nothing.

All I could think about was how she’d schemed behind my back to hurt Riley.

“You picked the wrong side,” I said to her.

Tears streamed down her cheeks. “Ezra, stop. This isn’t you…”

That almost made me laugh.

What did they know about who I really was? All they saw were the surface things my face, my crown, my money and power, my last name.

Yet my true self? The kind of darkness that would scare no idea.

the shit out of them if they ever got a peek at it? They had

The only person who probably knew was Riley.

…My mate.

“Your stepsister really means something to you, huh?” Hansen’s voice came from behind me.

I tossed Danica away like garbage and turned around. My team had just emerged from the woods behind me. “We were worried about you, captain,” Erik said. “It’s been two days.”

“I’ll make up for lost time. We’re still going to win,” I said casually, wiping someone’s blood off on my pants.

“Yeah, no doubt about that. We’re just curious-we thought you hated Riley. Yet you still risked your life to save her. What changed?”
