Chapter 98

When we arrived, I honestly had no idea Snipe was there or that he had been tailing us. But when Aina suddenly turned, her eyes sharp and uneasy, I knew she had sensed something. I looked in the same direction, and I saw him. I was sure of it. Still, I acted like I didn’t notice, not wanting to alarm
her or cause panic.
Then, when I asked her about it, she hesitated, uncertain if what she saw was real. I was relieved she doubted herself, it was better that way.
Right after, I sent one of my men to keep a close eye on him. Soon enough, they found out he had planted a bomb in the car we were supposed to use. Thankfully, we got it deactivated in time.
I had planned to wait until after the party, then handle him myself, to finish what I should have finished three years ago, quietly, without Aina ever finding out. But that plan was thrown out the window the moment she mentioned feeling some strange presence during the party.
Once we got into the car, Aina’s nerves were showing. “I think we should go back to Silver Crest,” she said softly, rocking our already sleeping child.
I nodded, keeping my voice calm as I pulled out my phone. “Is he trailing us?” I asked one of my men on the line. There was a pause, then I heard Aina gasp beside me. “Okay,” I replied quietly, my
eyes hardening.
“You knew someone was stalking us?” she asked, perplexed, and I nodded.
“Yeah, I just didn’t want to scare you,” I admitted. She swallowed hard and asked, “Is he dangerous?” I wasn’t about to tell her it was the same man Bella had sent to kill her, that I’d told him to cripple her, or that when he r***d Bella I’d cut off his manhood.
Aina would look at me like a monster, so I kept it short. “I guess he is. I wonder why he’s on our tail,
though,” I said.
Before she could say another word my phone rang and it was Dylan. “Hey, I got out of the party too, there was nothing much for me to do,” he sighed. I chuckled. “Wait, are you on the road?” I asked, and he confirmed he was nearby. “Where are you?” I asked and when he said he was close I told him, “The jackass from the party has been trailing our car, and we’re on the same road. Can you do
me a favor?” Typical Dylan, he agreed without wasting time.
Soon he caught up with Snipe and texted me the location. “You take them to the airport,” I told the driver, glancing at Aina whose eyes were fixed on me. “I’ll be back, just wait there; they’ll protect you.” She nodded with sealed lips. I got out and took the other car back to where Dylan had Snipe.

I was furious. He might hold a grudge over what I’d done to him, but he should’ve counted himself lucky I hadn’t killed him then. Now I would make sure he paid.
When I reached him everything played out the way I expected. I was set to finish him with a final blow, but he backed down, begging like a coward and spilling what he’d done.
Hearing him speak about raping Bella stirred a cold pity in me because Dylan was there and he had
heard it all. And when Dylan growls on hearing his mate was ***d, the same one who made his
first love commit suicide I knew the mating bond was at play.
So I decided it was better to leave him to Dylan than to kill him myself, that death would have been
too easy. Dylan wasn’t one for quick executions; he preferred to make men suffer until they begged
for death, and Snipe would learn that.
As I dressed again in the car, Aina texted, ‘Are you on your way?’ And I replied, ‘Yes, just a few
minutes.’ It took a little while before she answered: ‘When you get back you’ll have to explain properly’. I clicked my tongue, she knew I hadn’t told the whole truth, and truthfully I wasn’t
planning to.
When I got to the airport, she was already asleep, thankfully. I leaned down and pressed a gentle
kiss to her forehead, but her eyes fluttered open.
“Hey, get back to sleep. The plane will be taking off soon,” I murmured softly, but she shook her
head slightly, her voice groggy.
“Were you in a fight?” she asked.
I let out a quiet sigh. “Aina, just sleep,” I told her, brushing my lips against hers.
Our daughter was already sprawled on the bed beside her, sleeping as if the world couldn’t touch
her.
“You don’t want to tell me,” Aina whispered again, that stubborn tone creeping into her voice.
“No,” I said simply. “So please, don’t ask about it. It’s been taken care of.”
She gave a faint nod, her eyes slowly closing, and within seconds she was fast asleep again.

“Did you say you r***d Bella?” I snapped at the broken man on the floor, who was already begging to be let go.
“Please, I didn’t know she was your mate… Bella isn’t what you think,” he stammered, blood on his lips-like I didn’t already know.
“I asked you a question. Did you r**e her?” I demanded, my voice rising.
