Chapter 106

Recently, I’ve been seeing someone, a single mother of two. I’ve kept this relationship private, tucked away from every eye that might judge me, and honestly, I cannot begin to describe how peaceful I’ve felt these past few days. For once, I’ve been happy, genuinely happy. Miranda hasn’t
even noticed how distant I’ve become from her, too blinded by her own desires and what she gets
out of our arrangement.
And truthfully, right now, I don’t care. I’m done trying to fix what’s already shattered. I’ll retrace my steps, find my balance again, become the man I once was, composed, focused, and in control.
Alpha Osborne has been questioning me a lot lately, worried about how distracted and sloppy I’ve become. But I don’t want him worrying, so instead of sinking deeper into my own misery, I’ve decided to find peace elsewhere, in the arms of another woman.
There wasn’t much to do today, so I decided to leave work early. I had planned to meet Eunice later, but there was something I needed to handle at home first. Miranda wasn’t expecting me until late, so walking in early would be a surprise or so I thought.
When I entered the house, the maids immediately bowed their heads, but there was something off in the air. The silence was heavy, awkward, too careful. My instincts kicked in. “Where is my wife?” I asked the head maid, watching how her eyes darted away, her throat bobbing as she swallowed
hard.
“Sorry, sir, but she went out,” she answered, her voice a little too shaky for comfort.
A lie. Instantly, I knew it. She was covering for her.
I started walking, heading toward my room, and she followed close behind, her voice rising slightly, desperate now. “Sir, why don’t you wait in the living room while I bring you some tea? We didn’t know you’d be home this early.”
Her words only fueled my suspicion. They were hiding something, and tonight, I’d find out what.
Just as I reached the entrance of my room, I froze. The sound hit me before anything else, soft at first, then clearer. A woman’s moan. My wife’s voice. Followed by a man’s deep groan.
My blood ran cold, my mind completely still. That voice, I knew it anywhere.
I turned slowly to the head maid, who stood trembling, her hands clutching her apron as though it could save her. “Why,” I asked calmly, too calmly, “is your son in my room… and why is he making such noises with my wife?”

She flinched, her whole body trembling now.

I sighed, a bitter laugh escaping me. It seems I’m not the only one who’s been cheating, I thought
to myself, almost amused. Then I looked the head maid in the eyes. “Walk with me, head maid.”
But then I turned to the rest of the maids who stood stiffly nearby, pretending not to hear a thing.
“Let no one disturb the lovebirds,” I said coldly
The head maid followed without a word, her steps hesitant, guilt painted across her face. And as
we reached the living room, I sat down majestically while the head maid stood.
We stayed there in silence, ten long minutes. The ticking of the clock was the only sound until
Miranda finally appeared, rushing in. Her hair was disheveled, her breathing heavy, and the moment her eyes met mine, she froze.
I leaned back, studying her. She looked like a frightened cat, eyes wide, chest rising and falling fast, lips trembling as she tried to form words.
“You came early,” she stammered, forcing a shaky smile.
I smiled too, calm and composed. “How did you enjoy it?” I asked evenly.
Her fake smile faltered. “Oh… what are you saying?” she tried to play innocent, but I didn’t waver.
“Is his d**k bigger than mine?” I asked, my tone sharp and unshaken.
And just like that, the mask she wore, the lies, the pretense, the audacity, all crumbled. The color drained from her face. She couldn’t speak.
And for the first time in a long time, I felt something close to satisfaction, cold, bitter satisfaction.
“It… it’s not what you think,” she stammered, her voice barely a whisper.
I rose slowly from my seat, and the instant I did, she flinched, her whole body trembling as if she expected me to strike her. My jaw tightened, every word laced with venom. “I walked into my own house and heard my mate moaning, a man’s voice loud enough to burst my eardrums… and you
tell me it’s not what I think?”
Each word came out measured, deliberate, as I stepped closer to her. Oddly enough, I didn’t even feel anger the way I should have, not yet. Maybe because deep down, I have been doing the same thing, finding comfort in someone else’s arms. But still, hearing it, seeing her like this, ignited
something dark inside me.
“Tell me,” I demanded, voice low, steady, dangerous. “How long has this been going on?”
She froze. Her lips parted but no sound came out. She looked anywhere but at me, the walls, the
floor, the damn ceiling, but not my eyes.

“I said, how long?” My voice dropped lower, sharper. The weight of it made her flinch again.

“Don’t lie to me, Miranda,” I warned, my tone turning lethal. “You know I detest lies. So, tell me, how long?”
Finally, she met my gaze. Her eyes shimmered with fear, hands clenching tightly at her sides. Her lips trembled as she spoke, barely audible, but I caught every word.
“Four years…” she whispered.
For a second, I didn’t move. Didn’t breathe. The words hit harder than a punch to the gut.
My face fell, disbelief and fury colliding within me. “What did you just say?” I asked quietly, though my voice trembled with restrained rage.
She took a step back, her eyes pleading, but I could barely see her anymore, everything around me blurred.
Four years.
