Chapter 108
Octavia
I walked faster than my legs could carry me, my heart pounding as if trying to escape my chest. I couldn’t believe he had been watching me all along, those piercing eyes following my every move without me realizing. Every time I saw him, my chest tightened, beating faster and faster, beyond
my control.
At first, I kept telling myself I didn’t want this. That I wanted the rejection, that I wanted him to let me go. But deep down, I knew I was lying to myself. I knew it was the mating bond at play, pulling me closer to him no matter how hard I tried to fight it. And the more I tried to shake it off, the
stronger it seemed to grow.
He’s given me freedom, real freedom. I can move around the estate without guards now, without anyone trailing behind me. But even with that, I still feel strange, like I’m living someone else’s life. Everything has changed so suddenly that I hardly know where to fit in anymore.
As I walked, I spotted Rosa heading in my direction. She hadn’t seen me yet, but when her eyes finally landed on me, her whole face lit up, only for that glow to fade into caution as she quickly
bowed her head in respect.
I sighed softly and called out, “No one’s here right now.”
She glanced around nervously, then ran straight into my arms, hugging me tight. I held her close, warmth flooding through me. “Oh, you don’t know how much I wanted to come see you,” she whispered against my shoulder, her voice trembling slightly. “But things have changed.”
“I know,” I murmured, smiling faintly. “Same here. I’ve been feeling so out of place.”
She pulled back, studying me carefully as if trying to read my heart through my eyes. After a moment, she asked quietly, “Have you come to accept your fate?”
Her question hung in the air between us. I swallowed hard, unsure what to say. Part of me wanted
to shout no, that I wasn’t ready, that I couldn’t. But another part of me… that part was already
betraying me, softening, longing for him in ways I didn’t want to admit.
Rosa took my hand gently. “The Alpha is a good man, Octavia,” she said with a small, knowing
smile. “And you’ll make a good Luna. For him not to reject you means something, it means he loves
you.”
I met her gaze, my heart twisting at her words. Slowly, I nodded, unable to speak.
She squeezed my fingers and added with a teasing grin, “Now stop being so hard-headed because

of that viper named Bella and embrace your destiny.”
Clair
Her tone made me laugh, really laugh, and it felt good, even freeing for a moment. Because deep
down, I knew she was right. As much as I tried to deny it, even I had started to like Alpha Maurice.
And that terrified me more than anything else.
Bella
The maids didn’t even look my way as they busied themselves cleaning my room, as if I’d vanished Lately they didn’t greet me at all. When I see that so-called mate of mine next, I’ll scold him for
training such disrespect into his staff.
As if fate answered, I caught his scent before I saw him. A few heartbeats later he walked in and the maids all dropped into bows. “You may leave,” he instructed, but I cut him off. “No, stop.” The
maids halted mid-step.
I turned to him, feeling every inch of the insult. “Don’t you teach your workers manners?” I
demanded. The room fell silent; even he froze for a second before a small smile pulled at his lips. “Coming from someone who wasn’t taught any,” he replied, and to my humiliation the maids
laughed.
They laughed at me. Heat flared through me, anger, shame, something darker. Oh, Dylan, I thought, you have no idea what I’ll make you pay for.
He repeated the order and this time they obeyed. “Leave,” he said, and they filed out, leaving the
two of us alone in the quiet he’d made.
“You still look like you’re in denial,” he said, settling into the chair opposite me, one leg crossed over
the other. I stared back at him without answering.
“And losing parts of your memory, well, that sure worked in your favor,” he added, and I snorted.
“Do you want to know something?” I asked, a smile twisting my lips. He quirked an eyebrow,
curious. I leaned forward, my face calm and hard. “Don’t you want to know why Cherry killed
herself?” The words slipped out of my mouth, my stare never wavering. His expression went stone.
I laughed then, the sound harsh and unsteady. “You should have seen her beg,” I said, absurdly proud. He sprang to his feet, looming over me, jaw clenched. “What did you do to her?” he
demanded.
I met his glare without flinching. “why don’t you think about it, what do you think I could possibly do to her to make her take her own life?” I said to him, my eyes glittering coldly. “Hmm? Yes, that which you are thinking now was what I did.”
He walked toward me slowly, each step heavy with restrained fury. His gaze didn’t waver as he

came to stand behind me, and before I could even register what was happening, he gripped the
back of my wheelchair and shoved it hard.
I hit the ground with a sharp thud, pain shooting through my arms, but instead of screaming, laughter burst out of me. Loud, wild, unrestrained. “You should’ve seen her face when she begged, I said between gasps of laughter. “She looked horrible.” The memory alone made me double over, clutching my stomach. It was too vivid to forget, too satisfying to regret.
