The Alpha's Chubby Obsession. novel Chapter 127

Chapter 120

He carried me into a waiting room and carefully set me down on a soft sofa, his every movement gentle, too gentle. I didn’t understand why. Men like him didn’t do things without a reason,

He sat across from me, elbows resting on his knees, eyes dragging over my face like he was memorizing every inch of it. I could feel the weight of his gaze, but I didn’t bother to hide my boredom. I was just about to speak when he beat me to it.

“I know you’re confused about who I am, Bella,” he began, his tone flat, unreadable. “So I’ll tell you.”

He paused, and then a slow, smug smirk crawled across his lips. “Your mate and we’ve been rivals in business for years. I found out he had you too.” His voice carried a strange amusement. “But what I didn’t expect was that he’d waste you. Treat you like trash when he should’ve worshipped the ground you walked on.”

That made me lift my head, eyes narrowing. “And what the hell does being his rival have to do with me?” I asked, my tone sharper than I intended.

He leaned closer, his breath brushing against my cheek. That damn smile stayed plastered on his lips. “Because, Bella,” he murmured, “I’ve had my eyes on you for a long time. But you-” his voice dropped, low and almost tender “-you were too arrogant to even notice me.”

I almost laughed in his face. Too arrogant? He didn’t know half of it. Still, I stayed still, calculating.

There was something unhinged behind his eyes. He wasn’t harmless, no, this one was dangerous.

The kind of man who’d burn everything down for control. Just like me.

“Too arrogant to notice you?” I said coldly. “I don’t think I even know who you are.”

He leaned back, nodding with an almost amused sigh. “See what I mean? I’ve been to your pack at

least three times. Your father even invited me to your home once. And not once did you look my

way.” His gaze never left mine. “So of course, you wouldn’t remember me.”

I tilted

my head, my lips curling slightly. “And why would I? Why would I need to notice you?”

That’s when his smile changed. Darkened. “Because I like women like you,” he said, his tone deepening with something twisted. “The kind who aren’t afraid of sin. Who’ve already got blood on their hands. The kind who could kill and still sleep soundly.”

For a second, I just stared at him. He wasn’t wrong-but hearing it said aloud like that made

something in me stir. Not guilt, no. Just realization. He wasn’t here to save me. He was here to

claim me for my stubbornness.

“Hm,” I said softly, glancing down at my useless legs. “And as you can see, I’m half the woman I

used to be.”

“It doesn’t matter,” he said immediately, his tone sharper, possessive. His hand reached for my thigh, and before I could stop him, his fingers slid up, lifting the edge of my dress.

Clain

My eyes widened, a chill crawling up my spine. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?” I snapped,

my voice rising.

He didn’t flinch. “Even like this,” he whispered, “I still adore you, Bella. So tell me-what must I do to

make you mine completely?” His face was inches from mine now, his breath hot, his eyes wild with

obsession.

And though disgust twisted in my chest, another thought slithered through my mind.

He was a fool.

A powerful, obsessed fool.

And maybe, just maybe-I could use that to my advantage.

I met him eyeball to eyeball. “Then give me the thing I want the most,” I said, my voice sure.

He replied, “What is it?” a smile creeping up his face.

“The head of Aina Cliff.”

The moment I said Aina Cliff his face changed as if I had called a sacred name, and then came

laughter, the kind I wanted to smack off his stupid face as he rose from the table. He laughed too long, too pleased with himself, as if my request were a joke he hadn’t yet learned to respect.

“Ah, Bella, I thought you would say to make the man who made you suffer pay, who obviously is

Dylan, but Aina Cliff?” he said, and I nodded.

“Of course I want Dylan to pay, but that girl is the one I want out of the picture,” I told him. He sighed and sat back down, studying me. He let his hands fold together, watching me like one

might watch a problem someone else was about to solve.

“I heard you lost your memory too and you were also locked up all the years of your marriage, so it seems you do not know what is going on in this world now,” he said, and I didn’t care as he spoke further. “That one I can’t do for you, but I can lend you a helping hand, Bella, but if it goes south I’ll leave you like I haven’t seen you before even though I am obsessed with you.”

At those words I looked at him with a surprised expression. What did he mean by that? Was he saying he’d leave me if my plan against that idiot, fat thing Aina, failed? Now he seemed weak to me, not dangerous in the slightest. The thought annoyed me, he looked fragile when he spoke of consequences.
