The Alpha's Chubby Obsession. novel Chapter 177

Side Story 24

Abel

From the moment she walked in-covered in blood-my wolf snapped awake and screamed one

word: mate.

It hit me so hard I couldn’t look away from her. Every instinct urged me to claim her right there in.

that room, but something deeper, something rational, forced me to hold myself back

Then Alan barged in, saw her standing there, and the fear on his face was unmistakable. He

admitted she was the one who beat him.

And the admiration I already had for her skyrocketed.

But then I heard her age.

Sixteen.

Sixteen?

The number alone shut down every thought in my head. I couldn’t make a sixteen-year-old my Luna. I wasn’t going to cross that line. I needed a woman who had already matured, someone who could give me an heir now, not in two years.

People may think it’s not that serious, but it mattered for my position.

After my

father died, my uncle stepped in-and he never hid the fact that he still wanted the alpha title. He already had an heir. His son, Alan. If I didn’t strengthen my position, they could challenge me the moment I slipped.

I needed my own heir to secure my place.

And a sixteen-year-old mate?

That was a complication I didn’t want.

So I made the choice: reject her and eventually claim someone older.

But everything changed the moment she grabbed Alan and lifted him off the ground like he weighed nothing. His feet weren’t even touching the floor. The strength she showed-without ever having shifted-was unbelievable. And when she looked at us, her eyes went pitch-black.

Even from where I stood, I felt the power rolling off her.

Even Randy, who never scared easily, looked shaken.

And it made me think.

Claird

If my mate was stronger than half the warriors already… if she could become a Luna more

powerful than any wolf in this pack… then maybe I didn’t need an heir immediately. With her by my

side, we would rule without question.

But it wasn’t just about strength.

I didn’t want to reject someone the moon goddess chose specifically for me. If Clara was given to

me, then there was a purpose behind it.

When I told Randy to take her home, he did-but he didn’t drive away. He stayed near her

compound the entire time. He said something about her felt… off. His gut wouldn’t let him leave

her.

When Randy called to tell me he’d seen Clara standing outside with her bags and had followed the

cab she entered, irritation shot through me. I already knew she was adopted by the Sinclairs, but

throwing her out the very moment she turned sixteen? That was madness. Where did they expect her to go? Who did they think would take her in?

My anger carried me straight to Mr. Sinclair.

He was working when I arrived, and the moment he saw me, he stood up quickly, clearly assuming

I had come because of Pamela and Alan’s incident. But that wasn’t why I was there.

“Why am I hearing you drove Clara out of your house?” I asked him, voice sharp.

His eyes widened immediately. He lowered his head in a deep bow before answering.

“She insisted on leaving,” he said quietly.

I could sense there was more beneath that statement, but I didn’t push it-not then. Something

told me the truth would reveal itself later.

Before I realized it, I was already heading to my car, driven by instinct more than thought, following the location Randy had sent me.

When I reached the place, I stepped out and pulled my hood up to hide my face. It was getting dark, and I didn’t want people recognizing me and causing a scene.

We knocked, and when the door opened, I commanded the occupants to step aside. The moment they saw who I was, they bowed deeply.

“We heard you returned, Alpha Abel,” the man of the house said, “but we didn’t expect you to come here. What business do you have in our home?”

Before I even opened my mouth to respond to the Edgars, I heard footsteps approaching from the

hallway. When she stepped into the living room and our eyes met, something inside my chest stuttered-my heart actually skipped.

Damn it.

You’re not supposed to be reacting like this to a child, I scolded myself silently, forcing my expression to harden.

Clan

Randy greeted her first, and from there, the back-and-forth between us began. What irritated me most wasn’t even her attitude-it was how calmly she handled everything. The way she stood

there, almost eager for the rejection, as if she wanted it more than I did. Like she couldn’t wait to

be rid of me.

It burned.

It crawled under my skin in a way I didn’t appreciate.

She wasn’t desperate. She wasn’t clinging. She wasn’t afraid.

She simply wanted it to be over. And somehow, that made me start rethinking everything.

And now, staring at her wolf-massive, powerful, proud-I felt the final piece click into place. My

decision was made.

I would not reject her.

I would claim her. I would marry her. I would wait-wait until she fully became a woman, without

ever laying a hand on her before the right time. Her strength combined with mine… the pups we’d

eventually produce would be formidable.

But even beyond logic, my wolf was howling for her.

Raging.

Begging.

Demanding that I keep her, that I never let her go.

She stood taller than most grown wolves-hell, taller than most full-grown men. When she growled, the ground vibrated beneath her paws. Everything about her screamed destiny.

She was meant to be a Luna.

My Luna.

But first things first. I tightened my grip on the robe I had borrowed from Mrs. Edgar. Shifting for the first time drains a wolf-sooner or later the adrenaline would disappear, and she’d collapse.
