I turned to look at him, but he didn’t meet my gaze. Instead, he lowered himself and exposed his neck. I let out a small sigh and mirrored the gesture, sealing our bond with a mark that carried no
emotion.
After the ceremony, they led me to my room. I stood before the mirror, staring at the mark he had given me. It resembled fire-its shape, its bright red glow.
What a day. Something meant to be joyful had turned into something painfully plain
“Come in,” I called when I heard a knock.
Randy stepped inside. “Well… uh, congratulations?” he said, sounding unsure as he scratched the
back of his head. I studied him for a moment.
“What is it now?” I asked.
He cleared his throat. “Well, I came to tell you that you’ll be sent to the White Tower.”
I frowned, not understanding.
“The White Tower will teach you everything you need to know about becoming a Luna,” he continued. “You’ll only be there for a year.”
I see. So he’s sending me away.
It shouldn’t hurt, but somehow it did. But I refused to show it.
“Alright,” I answered simply.
He raised a brow. “Oh, uh… you’ll be leaving soon-”
“Wouldn’t tomorrow be better?” I cut in, watching surprise flicker across his face.
“Well… ah, tomorrow it is,” he said. He looked almost pale delivering the message. “Um, look, you just have to-”
I smiled and shook my head. “It’s fine. I understand,” I said, even though the truth was that it stung.
He nodded and gave a small smile before leaving. I sat on the bed and looked up at the ceiling.
“Well… not what I expected,” I muttered. The fact that he didn’t want this, that he couldn’t even explain anything himself and always sent Randy to speak for him-I hated that. And I couldn’t wait
to leave for the said white tower a day after our mating ceremony.
The next morning, everything was already prepared for my departure. Which meant it had been

planned long before. I was nothing but a doll they could move whenever they wished.
They escorted me to the car. Randy jogged up to me.
“Hey, Alpha Abel is in a meeting. At least wait a minute so you can say goodbye-it’s a year,” he
insisted, nodding. Even he knew he was saying nonsense.
“Take care, Randy. And take care of your Alpha too,” I said as I stepped into the car. Randy rested
his hand on his waist.
“Why do I feel like you hate us?” he asked.
I pressed the button to slide up the car window. He shook his head and mouthed something I
easily read: He’s really going to be pissed.
Like I cared.
The car started moving, taking me toward a place I had never seen-The White Tower. From what Randy said about it teaching me how to be a Luna, I immediately knew that was where Abel had
been trained.
Maybe staying where he once stayed would help me understand him and his struggles better.
Because right now, I don’t like my husband at all.
Abel
I ended the meeting as quickly as I could, but when I reached the entrance where the car should have been, only Randy was standing there.
I walked toward him, and he turned.
“Where is she?” I asked.
He smiled like an idiot. “She’s gone-where you sent her, obviously.”
I clenched my teeth. “But I told you I wanted to see her before she left,” I snapped.
My beta only shrugged. “Well, I don’t think she wanted to see you.”
I looked away.
I know I’ve been acting strange with her-even yesterday-so I can understand. I can’t blame her.
Everything has been happening too fast, and I never explained anything to her. She must be
confused.
The truth is, for all the tough front I put up, when it comes to her, I never know what to do. So I keep sending Randy to handle the things I should personally do. But he can never do it the way I would-

she isn’t his mate.
“So, when will Alan tie the knot with Pamela?” he asked suddenly.
I sighed at the change of subject. “I gave them a week. Seems the girl is back home,” I said, turning
to walk away. Randy followed behind me.
“Oh, come on. Quit sulking just because you couldn’t see your wife off,” he said, smacking my back.
I swear, if he weren’t my only friend, I would have taken his head as a souvenir.
“So, tell me what did the elders say about her?” Randy asked.
What did he expect? They were skeptical at first, of course, but once they heard l’d be sending her
to the White Tower to gain more knowledge, they all nodded in agreement, saying it was the best
decision.
Since she’s still young, they believe she’ll learn quickly. Even Elder Marc-the one I expected to be a thorn in my side-spoke without finding any fault in Clara. If anything, he sounded almost pleased
with the mate the Moon Goddess had given me.
“Marc said he liked how she carried herself yesterday-how she held eye contact with everyone,” I
told Randy.
He let out a sigh. “Honestly, she even took a handkerchief from him.”
I nodded.
Why the hell did he have to remind me of that?
“I want to be alone,” I said abruptly as I opened the door to my office, stepping inside “okay buddy
take your time” Randy says a smile plastered on his face, something I want to snack away, before
closing the door sharply.
I leaned back against the door, my face tightening in frustration.
