The Alpha's Chubby Obsession. novel Chapter 186

Side Story 30-1

Clara

The White Tower wasn’t anything like what I had imagined. It looked more like an academy built for the elites of the elites, a polished world far above anything I was used to. And honestly, from the moment I stepped in, I felt painfully out of place.

This place was meant for the privileged, for people born into high status. Yet from my very first day, they placed me among the highest-ranking students just because I was the Luna of the Red

Blood Pack.

My room was enormous-bigger than anything I’d ever lived in. I sat at the finest dining tables, served the best meals, and was treated like royalty. Like I was some kind of princess.

And to my surprise… I didn’t hate it.

Not even a little.

Even the lessons I expected to be exhausting weren’t bad at all. In fact, I enjoyed them more than I should. So it made me wonder why that mate of mine had always looked so grumpy. If this was where he learned, did he complain like a dying goat the whole time?

I even made a few friends-ones who strangely reminded me of Eve. Goddess, Eve… I haven’t seen

her since the last time we spoke. I hope she’s alright.

There was also one particular guy who stuck close to me from my very first day. Desmond. He was friendly, helpful, and always around.

A part of me suspected it was only because I was Abel’s mate, but honestly? I didn’t care. As long as people treated me well, that was enough.

Six months passed in the White Tower, just like that. And that was when I learned that after six

months, students were allowed a visitor.

A visitor.

Really?

I wondered who mine would be-not that I had high hopes. It certainly wouldn’t be my dear

husband. He’d probably send Randy again, as usual.

The next day, I wore a casual outfit-no uniforms were required-and walked through the halls,

greeting people as they greeted me. Desmond joined me almost immediately.

“So, who’s visiting you?” he asked, matching my pace.

“I don’t know,” I answered plainly. “Whoever they decide to send.”

“Well, mine’s my dad,” he said with a shrug.

Clay

“Yours is better, I told him, and he laughed. Desmond was a year older, so I saw him as more of an older brother. That let me be more relaxed around him. When I once asked why he stuck so close to me, he said I reminded him of one of his five sisters.

Five sisters. No wonder he was so comfortable around girls.

And of course, my mind wandered to that embarrassing day I caught him teaching a girl how to count her cycle. I nearly died of second-hand shame. Why was I thinking about that now?

“You’re doing it again, Clara,” Desmond said, catching me smiling to myself.

I opened my mouth to answer, but then-

A scent hit me.

Familiar. Overwhelming.

I froze.

“Mate.” Julia screamed inside me.

Oh… so he came.

The entire hallway grew a bit quiet, people turning in the same direction. Slowly, I turned too-and

there he was.

Abel.

Standing at the far end of the hall.

His eyes were on me. Sharp. Intense. And there was… something in them. Something I couldn’t

name.

Not until his gaze slid away from my face-

and landed on Desmond.

Before I could even make sense of the look on his face, one of our female lecturers rushed straight to him, smiling so widely it annoyed me instantly. He glanced at her briefly, but the way she stood too close to him made something sharp twist in my chest. I hated it immediately.

I tore my eyes away from them and looked at Desmond instead. He was already watching me.
