Side Story 35-2
“Luna Clara,” he greeted with a bow.
“Elder Marc,” I replied, not bowing.
“Please, sit,” I said calmly.
We both sat. I crossed one leg over the other and just looked at him for a moment.

“So, may I ask why you summoned me today?” I asked, my voice even, authority grounded. I was taught differently now-no one outranks the Luna except her mate. So this elder was a
subordinate, and I treated him like one.
“Yes,” he began. “I wanted to ask if you are prepared to take on the duties of the Luna of the Red
Blood Pack.”
“I see,” I said slowly, studying him from head to toe.
“And that is why you wanted this audience?”
He nodded.
I sighed. “I only just returned, Elder Marc. And I will do everything possible to support my husband
however I can. You don’t need to worry about me.”
He kept watching me.
“So, you’re saying you’re ready?” he asked.
“I may lack in a few areas, and I might need someone to guide me sometimes,” I said honestly.” Being ‘ready’… I’m not sure what that means. But I know I’ll manage just fine standing beside my
husband.”
He nodded once.
“Well then, Luna,” he said, getting up, “that will be all. Thank you for your time.”
I rose too, a small smile on my lips.
“In that case, as thanks for the handkerchief, I’ll invite you to dinner another time.”
His eyes widened a little, a smile breaking across his face.
“I’ll look forward to your invitation, Luna of the Red Blood Pack,” he said, bowing again.
“Randy,” I called, and he straightened immediately.
“Please escort our guest.”

He went to the elder, gesturing for him to follow. They walked out, and I stayed where I was.
Once the door shut and they disappeared, I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding and dropped back into the chair.
I don’t know everything yet, but from the look on his face…
I definitely exceeded his expectations.

A few minutes later, Randy showed up again, and the moment he saw me he broke into a proud
smile-almost like an older brother.
“I guess there was no reason for me to follow you after all. You handled yourself well,” he said, nodding like he approved.
“Well, thank you, Randy. But can I ask… where is that friend of yours?” I asked.
His grin stretched wider before he burst into laughter.
“To be honest? He told me he’ll be ignoring you from now on.”
I scoffed, shaking my head. “So he meant it, huh?” I muttered mostly to myself.
“How you manage to make that man act like a child, I still don’t understand,” he said.
