The Alpha's Chubby Obsession. novel Chapter 198

Side Story 36-2

“Well, thank you so much,” I replied, adjusting the book in my hand. “It could also be because you’re good at your job.”

A wide, proud smile tugged at his lips.

“At first, I honestly thought you would be difficult,” he confessed, shaking his head lightly. “But now

… you’ve exceeded every one of my expectations. I must say, Luna, I’m impressed.”

A genuine smile crept onto my face. Praise from someone like him wasn’t something you heard

often, and the honesty behind his words warmed me.

But then-right then-my nose caught a familiar scent.

His scent.

And the moment it hit me, it began to drift farther down the hallway, like he’d smelled me too and

immediately started running in the opposite direction.

Should I go after him? A part of me wanted to.

Another part of me smirked instead.

“Well,” Mr. Wallace continued, unaware of the sudden shift in my attention, “we’ll have to conclude

your lectures soon. Honestly, I don’t even know why they requested extra lessons when you’re already doing so well.”

I nodded, though my mind wasn’t on the lecture anymore.

The scent was coming back now-fast.

Closer with each passing second.

My smile widened just a little, long before Mr. Wallace even understood why.

slicked back, his expression unreadable. Mr. Wallace and I simply stared at him for a moment-t”

felt like a full minute passed before the silence broke.

“Hello, Alpha,” Mr. Wallace finally greeted, bowing quickly. “It’s not every day we get to see you.”

I shifted my gaze from Abel-whom I had been dying to see-to Mr. Wallace, pretending nothing

about this moment affected me.

“Yes,” was all Abel said, his eyes on me, his tone clipped and controlled.

“Well… Mr. Wallace was just leaving,” I said innocently, as if the timing of Abel’s appearance didn’t

amuse me.

“Oh, I see,” Abel replied, his voice harder now. “And you couldn’t ask the guards to escort him?”

He turned sharply toward the poor man. Mr. Wallace stuttered, “Oh-sorry, Alpha, my ba-”

I cut him off smoothly. “He was just telling me how proud he is as a teacher,” I explained. “I was escorting him because students appreciate when their lecturer acknowledges their effort.”

Mr. Wallace nodded eagerly, agreeing with everything I said.

“Don’t take it hard on him,” I added, even giving Mr. Wallace a gentle smile right in front of Abel.

“I see,” Abel said again. Ordinary eyes would think he was calm, collected, in control.

But he couldn’t fool me.

I knew better.
