Side Story 37-2

My stomach dropped. Oh no. What did that big-mouthed wolf say now?

“Why did you call Mr. Sinclair a creep?” Abel asked, a quiet edge in his voice.

Cheo

Great. Exactly what I didn’t want to discuss. “Ah… nothing. I just don’t like him,” I said quickly, trying to look away.

But he caught my chin before I could. “You’re lying,” he said, his voice low, demanding. “Tell me what he did for you to call him a creep.”

“I swear, I won’t lay a hand on him without your permission. Just tell me,” he added. He meant it,

but knowing Abel… telling him was still a terrible idea.

“It’s nothing. I handled it,” I insisted.

That wasn’t enough-his eyes said so.

sighed heavily. “Fine. He made advances on me. But I dealt with it.”

The second the words left my mouth, Abel dropped his hold on my face and turned away sharply.

“Did he touch you?” he asked, voice rough.

“No. He didn’t get the chance,” I answered quickly.

trying to run away. “You’ll stay here and wait for him,” he muttered, almost stubborn-acting like he hasn’t been the one ignoring me all this while.

“No, Abel, this is not you talking,” I said, trying not to laugh at how ridiculous he sounded. “Just take this as me helping you.” I told him, I was even about to smile when he leaned forward, bringing his face close-too close. The moment his lips were about to touch mine, I quickly turned my head

aside.

“All your efforts will be in vain,” I warned, nearly choking on my own laughter at the look he gave
