Side Story 38-2
“This is my family,” he snapped, stepping closer. “You have no right-”
Clary
I really didn’t want to do this, help her, but the child deserves none of this, so despite myself I said ” That’s my sister,” cutting him off, “and my nephew. And I have every right to interfere.”
Pamela gasped behind me.
“So what?” Alan scoffed. “You’re going to hit me?”
I didn’t answer him. Instead, I turned to Pamela. “Get up.”
She rose immediately, adjusting her son in trembling arms.
I faced Alan again, lowering my voice. “Be very careful who you send to torment me. Use anyone
else-but never them.”
His confidence cracked.
I took Pamela by the arm and guided her away, ignoring the way her head turned back toward him.
“Thank you,” she whispered once we were out of sight.
Everything suddenly made sense-her interference, her desperation. So, it was all Klaus, sending a new mom after me, wasn’t Mr Sinclair enough?
Abel had to do something and fast, because it seems his uncle is really desperate. I’ll have to talk to him maybe tomorrow because for now I know he’ll try his best to avoid me.
“Go to your room,” I told her firmly.
She bowed and left. I released a tired breath and headed straight to my own room.
Abel
“Everything is in place, Alpha,” Randy reported, his posture rigid as he waited for my response. “All
units are standing by. We only need your command.”
I didn’t bother pacing or pretending to think it through. I’d given my uncle more patience than he
ever deserved.
“We move tonight,” I said flatly.
Randy’s lips curved into a sharp smile as he bowed his head. “As you command.”
Night had barely settled when my men dragged them out of their quarters. Klaus first-still
wearing that arrogant expression he’d clung to for years-followed by his wife, Alan, and finally

Pamela. Their confusion was almost laughable.
Clair
“What is all this nonsense?” Klaus barked as they were forced to their knees before me. “Have you
lost your mind, Abel?”
I didn’t answer him.
“Bring him out,” I ordered instead.
One of my men went to the vehicle and yanked Sinclair out like trash, throwing him onto the ground
at my feet. The man whimpered as he landed, scrambling uselessly before freezing when he saw
who stood before him.
Klaus’s gaze snapped from Sinclair to me, his confidence wavering for the first time.
“It’s come to my attention,” I began calmly, “that someone has been sending assassins after my
mate.”
Klaus let out a sharp laugh. “And what does that have to do with me?”
I turned my attention to Sinclair, who was already crying, his shoulders shaking “I was only trying to protect my family,” he sobbed. “That’s all-I swear, so please, let Pamela go.” I scoffed.
I crouched slowly in front of him. “You were trying to save yourself,” I corrected coldly. “And you did it by attempting to murder what belongs to me.” and apart from that, you dared to make advances to my mate who was still a child.
I straightened and faced Klaus again. “Sinclair didn’t act alone. He followed orders. Your orders.”
A sharp gasp escaped Klaus’s wife, her head snapping toward him in disbelief.
“That’s a lie!” Alan shouted, stepping forward. “My father would never-”
The crack of a blow echoed as one of my men struck him across the back of the head, forcing him
back to his knees.
“Enough,” I said quietly.
I stepped closer to Klaus and lowered myself until we were eye to eye. “I have spent years gathering evidence-records, witnesses, confessions. Proof of how you murdered your own brother for the title you sit on. Proof of how you tried to have me killed when I was younger. And now-proof of this.”
I wrapped my hand briefly around his throat, just enough to remind him who held power, before shoving him back. He hit the ground hard.
“You have nothing,” he snarled, scrambling upright. “You wouldn’t dare take this to the court.”
