Book 2:Chapter 11-2
“You stay,” he said firmly.
I shook my head. “I’ll be on my way,” Danae said, already retreating.
I wanted to tell her not to go-or at least that I was coming with her.
My pulse raced. I didn’t want to be alone with him again. Not when I didn’t trust myself.
Without thinking, I turned to leave.
But he caught me swiftly.
My eyes widened in shock.
“No-please, let me go,” I pleaded as the door closed behind Danae.
“Don’t fight me,” he whispered.
And oh God…
I knew I was going to listen.
And just like that, his breathing grew heavy again.
I turned my head to look at him, and there it was, his eyes had changed colors again to purple..
“Why don’t you just give in?” he murmured, lowering his head to my shoulder.
I froze, biting down on my lower lip.
I had just learned something that should have sent me running out of his office, out of the company, far away from him. What happened last night was real. He wasn’t human. And Danae had said they were werewolves.
I still couldn’t fully wrap my head around it, but after everything I had seen… I believed her.
That alone should have been enough reason to run.
But while my mind screamed at me to escape, my heart betrayed me. It urged me to pull him closer, to wrap my arms around him, to kiss him, ravage him even-to lose myself in sensations I hadn’t allowed myself to feel in a long time.
The only man I had ever had a sexual encounter with was my ex. No one else. Nothing more.
“I am not your wife, Mr. Chester,” I said weakly. “You’re engaged.”
He lifted his head from my shoulder, only for it to settle against my neck, right over the place he

had bitten me.
“In time, you will understand,” he said quietly. “But I don’t have that kind of patience.”
Before I could respond, his mouth found my neck.
The mark.

My eyes flew open as a rush of sensation surged through me, sharp and overwhelming, like a jolt.
of electricity. He kissed the spot gently, reverently, and my body reacted before my mind could
catch up.
My hands moved on their own, clutching the front of his coat. When his warm, wet tongue brushed
against my skin, I tilted my head instinctively, exposing more of my neck.
A soft gasp slipped past my lips-one I hadn’t meant to make.
“Mmm… Mr. Chester, please stop,” I whispered.
But even as I said it, I pressed my legs together, painfully aware of the heat pooling low in my body,
of how badly I was losing control.
His mouth closed over the mark, sucking gently, and whatever protest I had been forming dissolved on my tongue. His hand slid firmly to my waist, pulling me flush against him, leaving no space between our bodies.
He kissed the spot again, softer this time, then a low growl tore from his chest-raw, animalistic,
the sound vibrating straight through me.
“I want to take you right here, right now, cutie pie,” he murmured. “Just say the word.”
I forced myself to breathe, to find my voice. “I don’t want it,” I said, even though it came out shakier
than I liked.
His grip tightened. “Because I’m engaged?” he asked.
I snapped my head to the side to look at him. His eyes were fixed on mine now, dark and intense, his head resting against my shoulder as if he belonged there.
“Or because you want to fight it?” he continued quietly. “Because you want to run away. Which
one?”
At least now, he sounded… reasonable.
“All,” I said honestly.
