Book 2:Chapter 11-1

She turned to me again, that same smile still fixed on her face.
“It means he has marked you as his.”
I frowned. He had said something like that last night, about mark.
“You’re confusing me,” I blurted out. I just wanted answers-nothing more. Then I could be done
with this. Maybe even resign, find another job, and figure out how to explain everything to my
mother.
Danae stepped closer, her eyes locking onto mine. She lifted both hands and placed them gently
on my shoulders.
“In the werewolf world,” she said calmly, “a wolf can only have one mate-unless the Moon
Goddess chooses to grant them a second chance mate.”
My confusion only deepened. Was she seriously saying they were… werewolves?
I flicked my gaze to Mr. Chester. He was staring at me intensely, unblinking. Even when our eyes
met, he didn’t look away.
“You’re confusing me even more,” I said, turning back to her.
She tilted her head slightly. “Do you remember what happened last night, Idara?” she asked softly.”
Was there anything unusual about him?”
I nodded slowly. For one, he had grown sharp fangs. Then he bit me. And then he fainted. So yes-
everything about last night had been strange.
“Very unusual,” I admitted, studying her face.
She nodded once before speaking again, her tone suddenly lighter.
“You see, Idara… we are not human.”
My eyes widened as she continued.
“We do have human sides, but the truth is-we are werewolves. And every werewolf has what we
call a mate. Someone they are meant to spend their entire life with.”
I swallowed hard. “A… mate?” I asked.
She nodded again.

Book 2 Chapter 11-1
“And you, Idara-you are my brother’s mate.”
I froze.
She had to be joking.
“What if I don’t want to be his mate?” I blurted out.
That was when he finally spoke.
“It’s not possible.”
My head snapped toward him.
“You are mine now,” he said calmly. “I’ve marked you, cutie pie.”
My chest tightened. “What does that even mean?” I asked, panic creeping into my voice.
“It means you’re bound to me,” he replied smoothly. “Just as I am bound to you.”
This had to be nonsense.

Danae removed her hands from my shoulders and stepped back as Mr. Chester moved closer. He
stopped right in front of me, his gaze refusing to leave mine.
“Just as humans bind themselves together,” he said in that low, tempting voice, “I have done the
same with you.”
He reached for my neck.
His eyes followed his fingers as they hovered over the mark he had left behind.
“It simply means,” he said softly, “you are my wife.”
I gasped.
“You must be joking-I’m not married,” I protested, even though the look in his eyes said otherwise.
“In my culture,” he continued, “two people seal their fate with a mark. And since you’re human, I bit
you for the both of us.”
He inhaled deeply.
“Your scent has changed. It’s more… intoxicating now.”
My breath hitched.
“Tell me, cutie pie,” he murmured, “do you hate me right now… or do you want me just as much as I
want you?”
