Book 2:Chapter 38
Helio
I stood rooted to the spot, completely unsure what to say. Would it sound pathetic if I admitted no
one had ever welcomed me before?
I genuinely couldn’t remember anyone ever doing it, yet the gentle way she said those words sent my pulse racing faster than it should.
“Easy there, your heart’s working overtime,” Violet remarked, one eyebrow arched as she glanced
at me. Idara turned her head toward Violet too, while I swallowed hard.
“Y-yes… thank you,” I finally stammered.
When Idara looked back at me, a soft chuckle escaped her. She tilted her head slightly. “What took
you so long?”
I opened my mouth to answer, but the words refused to come. I could only shake my head. Her smile grew wider at my silence-and that was the moment I realized she was teasing me on
purpose.
So I did the one thing I’m good at: I looked away.
“Come on, Julian,” Violet said gently as she stepped closer to collect her son from my arms. “Your
dad needs some time alone with his mate.”
As she reached me, she lowered her voice just enough for me to hear. “It’s Eleanor,” she murmured, lifting Julian smoothly before turning to leave.
Of course she has found that out quickly. She’s the Luna, so it’s not surprising she had that figured
out within a short period of time..
But then she paused, glanced back at Idara, and said warmly, “It was nice talking with you.”
Idara returned a small smile and nodded. “Good night to you… and to you, Julian.” She called his
name with a soft voice.
Julian gave a sleepy wave, yawning widely. That was when my voice finally decided to show up.
“I’ll play with you later, alright?” I told him.
“Yeah… later,” he mumbled, waving again as I waved back.
A few seconds later Violet disappeared down the hall, leaving me standing there-alone with Idara.
And just like that, my heartbeat kicked up even harder.

Come on, Helio. This isn’t the first time you’ve been face-to-face with her.

Idara approached me with deliberate slowness, each step measured, almost daring me to close the remaining distance. But I stayed frozen, only turning my head toward her as she drew near.
When she finally stopped right in front of me, her voice came out soft and knowing. “You’re breathing way too hard.”
My eyes widened. “Am I?” The words came out almost breathless.
“And you’re drenched in sweat,” she added, tilting her head with that familiar teasing/angle. “What
is it-going into heat again?”
I shook my head quickly. “No.”
Inside my skull, every instinct screamed at me to haul her against my chest, claim that perfect
mouth, bury my face in her scent and never let go. Yet my limbs refused to obey.
“You’re so pathetic,” Riley growled low in my head.
I knew he was right, but damn it-she unraveled me like no one else ever could.
Then her hand settled gently against my chest. I flinched at the contact; she let out a quiet,
amused laugh.
“You’re really not going to ask how my day was?” she murmured, leaning in until her face was
inches from mine. Her eyes danced with mischief.
“How… How was your day?” I managed.
Her smile softened. Before I could process it, her lips brushed mine in the lightest, feather-soft
kiss.
“Boring,” she whispered right against my mouth.
That single word snapped something inside me.
Suddenly my body remembered how to move. My hands shot forward, pulling her hard against me as I finally claimed her lips the way I’d been dying to, deep, hungry, no more hesitation.
Her arms slid around my neck as I plunged my tongue deeper into her mouth, savoring every taste of her. No matter how many times our lips meet, no matter how long we stay locked together, minutes bleeding into hours, I still can’t get enough. I never will.
There are moments when the wild, primal side of me, the wolf-surges forward, hungry to take over completely: to consume her, claim every inch, fuse our bodies until there’s no telling where I end and she begins.

Her fingers threaded into my hair, tugging and mussing it as I caught her lower lip between my teeth, biting down just enough before drawing it into my mouth with a slow, deliberate suck.
I was painfully hard, throbbing so fiercely it felt like I might shatter from the sheer force of wanting
her.
“We can’t… not here,” I managed to rasp, forcing the words out before I lost the last thread of
restraint.
Her eyes sparkled with mischief. “Then where?” she purred, lips brushing along my jaw before
trailing down to my neck.
I tilted my head instinctively, offering her more skin, eyes falling shut as my breathing turned
ragged.
“My room,” I growled low, voice rough and frayed.
Her tongue traced slow, wet lines along the column of my throat. A deep, guttural sound tore from my chest-half pain, half desperate pleasure, vibrating through me.
“Helio,” she whispered against my pulse, “I may not be a wolf… but right now I want to bite you so
badly.”
My grip on her waist tightened almost bruisingly. “Just… stay away from the veins,” I breathed out.
She laughed softly, the sound dark and sweet. “Promise.”
Then her teeth sank into the meat of my shoulder, not hard enough to break skin, but firm, possessive. Instead of pain, white-hot pleasure exploded through me. I moaned openly, head dropping back, letting her mark me however she pleased.
When she finally pulled back, her tongue traced one slow, gentle lick over the fresh mark she’d left
behind. My breathing turned wild, ragged, completely out of control.
“Not this room, Helio,” she murmured, voice low and certain. “The other one.”
