Book 2:Chapter 41-2
“Are you hungry now?” I asked.
Almost immediately, her stomach let out a loud growl.
For a moment, the room fell silent.
“Well… I guess that answered your question,” she finally muttered.
I couldn’t help it, I burst out laughing.
“Don’t laugh,” she complained, pouting slightly. “You’re the reason I’m this hungry.”
We headed toward the main house together, where breakfast had already been prepared and laid out across the dining table. The reason I refused to have the maids bring food to my old room was simple, though difficult to explain.
That room meant something to me.
It held memories, many of them.
And now that Idara was here, I wanted only my mate to have access to that space. No one else.
When we entered the dining room, Danae was already seated at the table, eating.
She glanced up when she noticed us.
“I couldn’t wait any longer,” she said around a mouthful of food.
“As if I care,” I replied dryly. “You know you can eat whenever you want.”
“Hello,” Idara greeted politely.
Danae immediately stood from her chair and bowed respectfully.
“It’s nice to meet you again, Luna,” she said.
Through the mate bond, I could sense Idara’s discomfort at the title, though she didn’t voice it
aloud.
“We should start eating,” I said as we sat down. “My mate is starving.”
Once we began our meal, I quietly opened a mind link with Danae.
“Prepare the council. There will be a meeting this evening.”
Danae lifted her eyes toward me briefly before returning her attention to her food.
I didn’t want Idara hearing anything about our internal problems. Keeping her away from pack

politics was the best way I could protect her.
“Are you finally putting your plan into motion?” Danae asked through the link.
“Just enough to shake them up,” I replied.
A faint smile curved her lips.
“As you wish, Alpha. The meeting will begin at five this evening.”
Perfect.
They wouldn’t see it coming.
I would strike where they least expected and make their lives miserable.

After all, they had made the first mistake when they murdered Julio and tried to turn me into nothing more than a puppet for their twisted schemes.
And now…
It was time for them to pay for it.
The rest of the meal passed peacefully, and once we were finished, Danae stood from her seat.
“I should get going now,” she said. “There’s some business I need to take care of.”
I nodded, already knowing exactly what she meant. She was heading out to arrange the task I had
given her.
As soon as she left the room, I turned my attention back to Idara.
“It looks like I’ll have to step out again this evening,” I told her.
She looked at me curiously.
“Is it because of what I told you earlier?” she asked.
I shook my head.
“No. It’s something bigger than that,” I replied gently. “But I promise you, when everything is settled, I’ll explain it all to you.”
She studied my face for a moment before nodding.
Still, I wasn’t leaving just yet.
“But it’s not like I’m going anywhere right now,” I added with a small grin. “You have me all to yourself until five.”
