Whatever Helio was dealing with, I just hoped it would end well.

He hadn’t told me much, but I could sense the tension in him earlier. It was in the way he moved

the way his voice had tightened slightly when he spoke.

Something serious was happening.

I had already been feeling that tension long before I told him about Eleanor’s phone call, but after mentioned it, the atmosphere around him seemed to grow even heavier.

Helio never told me exactly where he was going. But seeing Violet and Danae leave with him made it obvious enough.

They had gone to the council meeting I had heard whispers about.

To be honest, he was keeping me completely in the dark about everything. Still, he had promised to explain it all once things were settled.

Maybe he was doing it for my sake.

Perhaps it was better for me to stay away from the affairs of the council.

But who was I trying to fool?

The moment I accepted Helio as my mate, I had already stepped into this complicated world.

Suddenly, my phone vibrated in my hand.

I glanced at the screen and saw my mother’s name.

Without hesitation, I lifted the phone to my ear.

“Hello?”

A voice answered.

Soft. Familiar.

But it wasn’t my mother’s voice.

It was Marilyn.

“Hello, Idara,” she said sweetly. “Do you miss me?” and immediately she cuts off the call.

My entire body stiffened.

I jumped to my feet so abruptly that Julian stopped playing and turned his head to look at me. His

nanny also noticed my sudden reaction.

“Is something wrong, ma’am?” she asked immediately.

I turned to her, panic rising in my chest.

“There’s someone in my mother’s house,” I blurted out. “An intruder.”

The moment the words left my mouth, the nanny’s posture straightened, her expression turning

serious.

“Do you know who the intruder is?” she asked.

But I was already moving toward the door.

I had to get to my mom.

I needed to reach her as quickly as possible.

Before I could go far, the nanny stepped in front of me, blocking my path.

“Please stop,” she said firmly.

“Move,” I snapped, fear making my voice sharp.

But she shook her head.

“The Alpha has ordered that you are not to leave the mansion,” she said calmly. “It isn’t safe

outside.”

Right now, my safety was the last thing on my mind.

“You don’t understand,” I said desperately. “My mother-”

“You’re forgetting something,” she interrupted gently. “We are werewolves, Luna. Just give me your

mother’s address and I will send guards there immediately. I promise you we will bring her here

safely.”

Her words were reassuring, but before I could respond, my phone rang again.

I answered quickly without even checking the caller.

“Idara.”

Danae’s voice came through the line.

“Do not leave the mansion,” she said firmly. “Someone is at your mother’s house, but we are

handling it.”
