1 sank back into the chair, my breathing uneven as I buried my face in my hands, trying to calm the
storm of fear inside me.
A moment later, Rose walked over to me.
“Luna,” she said gently, “I’ve already sent some of Madam Violet’s most loyal guards to your
mother’s house. I assure you she will be safe.”
I nodded slowly, trying to believe her.
Then something suddenly occurred to me.
“Wait,” I said, lifting my head. “But I never gave you my mother’s address.”
Rose brought a hand to her lips, her expression slightly awkward.
I understood immediately.
Of course.
They must have done background checks on me long ago.
For a moment, I considered calling Helio. But since Danae had already contacted me, it meant he was probably aware of the situation.
So instead, I closed my eyes and whispered a silent prayer.
Please…
Don’t let Marilyn hurt my mother.
I sat there for who knows how long. When my phone rang again and I saw it was my mom, I
answered immediately.
“Mom?”
“Oh, Idara,” she said, and I didn’t even realize when tears started falling down my cheeks as I got up
and touched my beating heart.
“Mom, are you alright now?” I asked quickly.
“There is no need to worry, Idara,” she replied almost immediately. “When she came in and asked about you, I told her you no longer live here. So she ordered her guards to take my phone and call
you.”
She paused before continuing.

“But it wasn’t long after she threatened to kill you that some suited men or werewolves suddeny came in,” she explained.
Deep down, I knew my mom must have been terrified. She only sounded calm because she didn’t
want me to worry.
“Mom, I’m just glad you’re okay,” I said, my voice shaking.
“What about Marilyn?” I asked.
She sighed softly.
“Some of her guards were hurt, but she was taken away by the werewolves. Oh, it looked like
another group had just arrived,” she said, which immediately made me alert.
“Oh, don’t worry,” she added quickly. “It seems the ones keeping watch over the house approached
them.”
Just then, I felt someone touch me. When I looked down, I saw Julian standing beside me.
I offered him a small smile. He must have been worried after seeing me so shaken.
I really was a bad babysitter.
“Okay, Mom. Thank God you’re okay. I’ll call you later,” I said before ending the call.
I bent down and picked Julian up.
“Are you okay now?” he asked.
“Yes, I’m okay now,” I said with a smile, taking a deep breath.
I wondered where they would take Marilyn because I needed to see her. I needed to stop her
madness once and for all. She had made my life miserable enough already, and I wasn’t going to
take it anymore.
Soon, Rose, who had stepped out earlier, came back inside.
“Before the men arrived, everything had already been sorted out,” she said with a bow.
I turned to look at her.
