Book 2:Chapter 53

The next morning, when I woke up, Helio wasn’t beside me.

At first, I frowned, confused, but then my eyes landed on a neatly folded note resting on the side
table. I reached for it and unfolded it quickly.
“I’ll see you at work.”
There was even a small “lol” at the end.
My eyes widened.
“Hell no… did he actually leave me?” I muttered under my breath, already scrambling out of bed. I grabbed my phone, and the moment I saw the time-past eight-I nearly lost it.
“I will kill him,” I grumbled, rushing straight into the bathroom.
By the time I got ready and stepped outside, a car was already waiting for me. That instantly lifted my mood a little. I was excited to finally go back to work, I missed my normal life. Being stuck in that huge house all day was starting to feel suffocating.
Not long after, we arrived at the company.
The driver came around to open the door, and I stepped out, heading straight inside.
But almost immediately, I noticed something was off.
People were staring.
Not just glancing-staring.
I slowed down slightly, confused, wondering if something was wrong with me, when suddenly a
woman rushed toward me with a bright smile.
“You’re here,” she said cheerfully.
I nodded, still looking around. “Yes… I was just heading to my station.”
Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed something even stranger: both nonwerewolves had their eyes on me, and some people were bowing their heads slightly as I passed.
Were they… greeting me like a werewolf?
Oh.
They could probably smell Helio on me, but something told me, it was more than that.

Before I could understand what was going on, the lady spoke again-and completely caught me off guard.
“Of course, Mrs. Chester. If you need anything, I’ll be right outside your station.”
I froze.
“You said… what?” I asked slowly, disbelief creeping into my voice.
“Well, from now on, ma’am, I’ll be with you wherever you go. That’s my job.”
I didn’t even respond immediately. Instead, I turned and walked toward the elevator and she
followed behind me without hesitation.
Helio never told me anything about this.
And Mrs. Chester?
No. Absolutely not, I wouldn’t want her to call me that in the midst of people.
“Please… just call me Idara,” I said, glancing at her.
“I’m sorry, ma’am, but I can’t do that,” she replied politely.
Before I could say anything else, the elevator doors opened, and we both stepped in.
There were other people inside, so I couldn’t argue any further.
The moment I entered, the same thing happened again-stares… and a few respectful bows.
I only smiled shakily.
When the doors opened again, I stepped out and headed toward my office.
Helio will have some explaining to do, maybe during lunch break “You can wait here,” I told her.
She bowed her head immediately.
I took a few steps, then paused.
“Ah… what’s your name?” I asked, turning back slightly.
“Ralia, ma’am,” she said with a soft smile.
I nodded once and continued to my office.
The moment I stepped inside, Eliot and Faye stood up abruptly.
The expressions on their faces were no different from everyone else’s-shock mixed with
something like awe.

I frowned.
“Why are you both staring at me like that?” I asked, already feeling uncomfortable. “Is there
something on my face? It’s not like I’ve changed or anything.”
Eliot cleared his throat first.
“Well… we got a message last night stating-”

He suddenly stopped, glancing at Faye, who looked like she had just swallowed something heavy
I tilted my head, urging him to continue.
“That… you’re the wife of Mr. Chester.”
I blinked rapidly.
No.
He didn’t.
Helio actually did this?
That explained everything-the stares, the bows…
Helio, I swear I’m going to kill you.
I never wanted everyone to find out like this. Not now. We hadn’t even had an official ceremony yet.
Yes, the mark sealed things… but still.
I didn’t want my colleagues treating me like the boss’s wife instead of… me.
“Oh… I-I…” I stammered, unsure how to even begin explaining.
“Well, it happened suddenly,” I finally managed.
Faye’s voice trembled slightly. “Wait… so you’re saying it’s true?”
I looked at her.
The expression on her face-it was like I had just confirmed her worst nightmare.
Still… I nodded.
“Yes.”
Even though a part of me hated saying it out loud, I forced the words out.
“I’m married to Mr. Chester.”

Her face went pale instantly.
“Excuse me…” she muttered before practically stumbling out of the office.
I watched her leave before turning back to Eliot, who still looked stunned.

“Well… that was unexpected,” he said after a moment. “I guess you didn’t like me enough to send
an invitation.”
I shook my head quickly.
“No, no-we haven’t had the ceremony yet,” I explained in a hurry.
He raised a brow. “Then why?”
I swallowed. “Um… we sealed our vows, but the ceremony hasn’t happened yet.”
It still felt strange saying it out loud.
“I’ll definitely invite you when the time comes,” I added with a small, awkward laugh.
He smiled. “Well, Idara… I must say, Mr. Chester beat me to it. Anyway congratulations”
I blinked.
