The look on Calisto’s face the moment he realized he had said far too much was something I had never seen before – pure, raw panic mixed with disbelief. His eyes widened in horror as the weight of his own words crashed down on him.

“No… I said that out of anger,” he stammered quickly, desperately trying to backtrack and diffuse the damning confession that had just spilled from his own mouth.

I shook my head slowly, a cold smile playing on my lips. “No, Calisto. You have just openly admitted to killing not only my brother, but my father as well. That was no mere slip of the tongue.”

I turned calmly to one of my men standing nearby. “I hope you got all of that on tape.”

The second those words left my mouth, Calisto did something incredibly foolish.

Driven by rage and desperation, the old man suddenly lunged at me, his body already coiled tight

with tension from the moment I had walked in. I had anticipated something like this. Before his

claws could even come close to reaching me, my men moved swiftly, tackling him to the ground

with practiced efficiency.

I simply shook my head at how absurd and desperate his actions had become.

“Let go of me, you filthy peasants!” Calisto barked furiously at my men, struggling violently against

their hold. But they held him down firmly, forcing him onto his knees as they dragged his head up

so he had no choice but to look directly at me.

“You see,” I continued, crouching down in front of him, “I used to think you were untouchable. But

now I realize how foolish I was. You are nothing but my subject, Calisto-”

He didn’t let me finish. His fangs elongated sharply, veins bulging across his face like a mad wolf

on the verge of losing control. “I swear to you, Alpha Helio,” he snarled, his voice dripping with

venom, “I will make you regret this humiliation you have put me through. I will take everything precious from you and watch as you fall apart piece by piece.”

His words were heavy with genuine hatred. I knew he meant every single syllable.

And threats like that… I did not take them lightly.

The only people who truly mattered to me were my family – especially Idara, my sweet mate. The fact that he had just threatened them sent my own anger surging dangerously close to the

surface.

I grabbed his face roughly, my fingers digging into his jaw as I stared directly into his eyes. “Yes!” Calisto. You should have killed me when you had the chance. That was your biggest mistake. But

me? I will never make such a careless mistake. Never.”

My eyes widened with barely contained fury, as if I could snap his old neck right there and then.

“But you seem to forget one important thing,” I added, my voice low and dangerous. “Who taught me everything I know today, teacher? So I will not repeat your foolish errors.”

I released his face with disgust and rose to my feet, watching as pure horror slowly overtook his expression. He looked as if he couldn’t believe what I had just implied that I had learned all his dirty tricks from him.

I pulled out a handkerchief and calmly wiped the feel of his skin off

my

hand.

Turning to my men, I gave the final order: “The traitor who orchestrated the deaths of my father and brother will be taken to the dungeon immediately. He will remain there until it is time for his

trial.”

As they began dragging him out of the room, Calisto thrashed wildly and screamed at the top of his lungs, “I will make you pay, Helio! You will regret the day you chose to go against me!”

His desperate threats fell on deaf ears.

I watched them haul him away, feeling a heavy weight begin to lift from my shoulders.

Just then, my phone rang at the perfect moment. I picked it up, and the voice on the other end delivered the news I had been waiting for:

“Elder Mario has broken.”

A slow, satisfied smile crept across my face.

Freedom was finally closer than it seemed, for me and my precious cutie pie.

Idara

The rest of the evening passed in a warm, comforting blur as I spent it with my mom, Mr. Gabe, and Ralia. We sat together chatting about everything, mostly about Helio, the werewolf world, and

the strange new reality I had been thrown into.

But soon, Mr. Gabe glanced down at his watch and let out a small sigh. “I am afraid it is time I

escort you back to the Alpha’s mansion,” he said, looking directly at me.

I nodded quietly, even though disappointment settled in my chest. So soon?

I had really missed my mom. A big part of me wished today could have just been the two of us,

people in the pack treated me like I was already one of them.

But I knew that kind of freedom wouldn’t come yet. Not until Helio had fully sorted out everyone who wanted to harm us. Only then would I be able to spend real, unguarded time with my mom without feeling like we were being followed or our conversations were being listened to

Mom pulled me into a big, tight hug once again. I smiled against her shoulder and whispered, “am/ really going to miss you a lot, Mom.”

She laughed softly, rubbing my back. “Do not worry, Idara. One of these days, I will come visit you
