Book 2:Chapter 58-1

The moment we arrived back at the mansion, Mr. Gabe escorted me inside. Almost immediately,
Helio came into view. The instant he saw me, a warm smile spread across his face. I walked
straight over to him, feeling that familiar pull in my chest.
“Alpha,” Mr. Gabe announced with a respectful bow, “I brought back your wife in one piece.”
Helio nodded, his eyes never leaving me. “I can see that. Thank you, Gabe.”
“And oh-” Mr. Gabe added, a mischievous smile tugging at his lips as he caught Helio’s attention again, “it seems to me that your mother-in-law does not like you.”
My eyes widened in shock. “She never said that!” I quickly defended my mom, but then I heard Helio, he was already laughing softly beside me. I snapped my head toward him, slightly
embarrassed.
“Is that so?” Helio asked once he had calmed down, still grinning. “Well then, I think I have to work
harder to convince her to like me.”
I shook my head at the absurd statement. “She doesn’t hate you. She actually told me to thank you,
“I blurted out.
Helio’s gaze shifted back to me, curious. “For sending people to her house,” I clarified.
He nodded slowly, but that silly, playful smile remained on his face, making my heart flutter.
“Well then, I think I will take my leave now,” Mr. Gabe said, clearly enjoying the moment like the instigator he was. I shot him a playful glare, but he was smiling too as he gave one last bow and walked away.
Once he was out of sight, Helio let out a deep sigh of relief and pulled me gently into his arms. He
pressed a soft kiss to the top of my head, and I melted against his chest, breathing in his familiar
scent.
“How was your time with your mother?” he asked tenderly.
“It was fun,” I replied, smiling up at him. “She said she will come visit soon too.”
Helio leaned down, clearly intending to kiss me properly, but he suddenly froze. My brows knitted
in confusion – until I heard the sound of small, running footsteps approaching.
“You are back!” Julian exclaimed with a bright, happy smile as he ran toward us.

I slipped out of Helio’s embrace and walked to meet the little boy. “Oh, I am,” I said warmly.
The moment he reached me, I scooped him up into my arms. He immediately started complaining in the cutest way possible. “Well, we are starving! Uncle Helio said no one was allowed to eat until you came back, and Mom was furious. She said she would not have agreed for us to have dinner together if she knew he would do this.”
He dramatically ratted Helio out, and I turned to look at my mate with raised eyebrows. Helio quickly looked away, pretending to be innocent.
“Oh… isn’t he a bad uncle then?” I teased, and Julian’s face lit up with a big grin.
“He is!” the boy declared, chuckling happily.
I started walking toward the dining area with Julian still in my arms, Helio trailing behind us. “So suddenly I’m a bad uncle?” Helio asked, feigning hurt.
Both Julian and I burst into laughter, the sound echoing through the halls.
Thank goodness we reached the dining hall just in time. If we had been even a minute late, I was sure Violet would have had Helio’s head on a platter.
The dinner was filled with warmth and laughter. I got to see a completely new side of Luna Violet she was actually incredibly talkative and lively once she felt comfortable with someone. I liked this version of her. A lot. And I hoped this side of her would stay.
Helio had once told me that the reason she was being so nice was because she was still the acting Luna. But honestly, I didn’t mind. I wasn’t even sure I had what it took to be a proper Luna, especially as a human. It would be difficult for the entire pack to fully accept me.

Still, I knew they wouldn’t voice any displeasure openly. And if I remembered correctly, Helio had
said that the moment Julian came of age, he would hand the title over to me. Then he and I would leave everything behind and live a quiet, normal life far away from the pack and all its troubles. But
first, he needed to clean up the mess surrounding us.
Last night, after returning from the council meeting, Helio had reassured me that I had absolutely nothing to worry about, nor did my mother. He had even mentioned that if we ever wanted a child, we could adopt one. The thought made me smile softly. If we were ever going to do that, I would want a little girl. I had a feeling Helio would make an amazing girl dad, and deep down, I really liked
that idea.

It seems the surveillance Helio placed in the house cannot be bought or corrupted. These guards don’t even want to interact with me. How am I supposed to bribe anyone to help me when they all
act like I don’t even exist?
And Anna… I’m so worried about her. I just hope she hasn’t ratted me out to Helio already.
I also keep wondering what Uncle Calisto is doing right now. He might still have one or two tricks
up his sleeve.
But I was beginning to lose hope. Did he really have a solid plan to get us out of this mess? Would
our original plans fall through completely?
At first, the goal was for me to marry Helio. Now that I know he actually was the one who saved me, I want to marry him for love. I might even give up my plans of killing him. But I know Uncle Calisto would never approve of that shift – though right now, I don’t really care what he thinks.
Still… My son Nate will become the Alpha after Helio dies of “natural causes.” That means our
plans can still work, right?
But none of it will matter if we remain stuck in this house with no way to communicate with the
outside world.
Just then, the sound of approaching footsteps echoed down the hallway, pulling me out of my restless thoughts. I quickly got up from the bed, my heart already beating faster.
A firm knock sounded on my door.
Before I could even respond, a male voice spoke from the other side, clearly irritated. “Why do you
