Chapter 63

Osborne

With most things settled, one problem still nagged at me: Bella. I couldn’t let her pull another stunt, so I picked up my phone and dialed Alpha Hamilton.

He hesitated, then answered. “If you’re calling about my daughter’s little tantrums, you’re wasting your time,” he said – calm on the surface, but with something dangerous under it.

“I’m not calling about that, Alpha Hamilton,” I said, my eyes on Aina and Clara chatting a little way off. “I’m calling about the deal from our last meeting.” He quieted for a while before he asked “why are you bringing it up now?”.

I let out a short laugh. “Another pack’s willing to take the contract at the price we wanted. If I give it to you, we lose money – hope that makes it clear.” I heard him bang his hand somewhere and spit,

“You wouldn’t dare.”

I inhaled slowly. “Try me. If you don’t want your business and your pack falling behind, you’d better

put your daughter in order. If anything like what happened yesterday repeats itself again, you’ll be

in the mud, understood? It’s high time you realise I am not in any way like my father.” Then I hung

  1. I wasn’t bluffing-no one messes with my family without paying.

I dialled Alex next. “Meet me in the office,” I said. I’d promised Aina I’d wipe away her worries, and I

meant it – even if it comes at the cost of my friendship.

I headed into my office to wait for Alex, and not long after, he barged in with a little smirk tugging

at his lips.

“I was wondering when you’d call,” he said casually.

I nodded once and motioned for him to sit. “So, how do we handle the issue of yesterday?”

I shook my head. “There’s nothing there to handle-and that’s not the reason I asked you here today.”

That piqued his curiosity. His brows pulled together as he studied me, waiting.

I leaned forward, looking him square in the eyes. “Why have you been following my wife around like

a leech?”

His eyes widened instantly. “What? I’d do no such thing!” he denied, but I didn’t respond. I just stared at him, letting the silence press down while he lied through his teeth.

“You rejected her once because you thought she wasn’t good enough. But the moment you realized she was mine-after you caught a whiff of her scent and heat-you suddenly wanted her

back.” My voice dropped, harder, sharper. “Focus on your mate, Alex. The next time I see you

hovering around my wife like some stalker, it won’t end well.”

He swallowed thickly, words failing him. Finally, he dipped his head in shame. “I apologize.”

He should. When it comes to Aina, I don’t joke.

I leaned back, calmer now. “That aside, what Bella did yesterday wasn’t the end of it. I’m sure of that. Which is why I’m giving you an assignment.” His eyes flickered with attention. “Keep an eye on her every move. If she does anything unusual, you report straight to me.”

He stood, bowing his head. “Your wish is my command.”

I waved him off, dismissing him.

Once he left, I picked up my phone and dialed Austin. “Ready the plane for my sister and her envoy. Security must be tight-no room for mistakes.”

He affirmed, and I ended the call.

“Anyone out there?” I called. A maid rushed in, head bowed.

“Tell one of the butlers to get my car ready.” She scurried off quickly to carry out my orders.

Word had already reached me about a maid working for Bella-badly injured, now in a coma at the clinic. I went to see for myself, and it was clear why Bella had targeted her.

The girl was chubby, like Aina. That alone had been enough for Bella to unleash her rage on her. An innocent girl, punished for nothing. And Bella didn’t even carry an ounce of regret-she left her to die, just like what she once did to her own brother. Only difference was, he had healed faster.

A sigh left me as I stepped out of my office. Before leaving, I needed to see Aina.

I found her in the garden, laughing and chatting with Clara. The moment Aina turned, her eyes met

mine, and I gave her a small nod. Clara noticed too and turned to glance at me.

I strode toward them, my steps steady. Looking at Clara first, I said, “You can inform your

guards-they’ll be following you home. I’ve already readied a plane. If you’d like to see the Alpha before you leave, I can arrange that as well.”

She rose to her feet with a smile. “Thank you very much.”

I returned the smile. “Of course. It was an honor having you here. We can also exchange

contacts-it will be good if we get to know each other better.”

Her smile widened at that, and Aina chuckled softly.

It was clear my mate liked her, and truth be told, I did too. But every time I looked at Clara, I

couldn’t help but see my father’s face, and to tell the truth, it’s funny to me.

“You look like you’re about to leave,” Aina said, her eyes narrowing slightly.

“Oh yes,” I replied smoothly, “something was just brought to my attention.”

“What was it?” she asked, curious.

“Ah… a little problem at the border. I just need to check it out.”

She gave me a look. “And you’re going there when it’s supposed to be your honeymoon?”

My eyes widened at her words, and Clara burst out laughing.
