He looked at me and he had this look in his eyes that I didn’t recognise and he had a smirk on his face. “Miss Edmund, I have to say that your vigilance is over the top. I mean have I done anything to make you distrust me? I simply invited you to my house so we could talk. Or do you think that I want something else from you?” He asks me, making it seem like I’m the one having bad thoughts.
He stared at me like he was looking into my soul, almost like he could read my mind and I felt extremely uncomfortable.
I understood the rumours now, I mean he’s known to be a very dominant and ruthless Alpha and also a CEO, no one that has stood against him has been able to succeed.
Up until now, I only saw him as a rich aristocrat but right now, I have to admit that I was a bit scared, it was clear that he wasn’t a man to be messed with.
We both stared at each other long enough that the air around us was starting to get charged and I could tell that something monumental was about to happen but then his butler Gavin interrupted us, breaking the trance that we were in.
“Excuse me Alpha, but the food is ready.” Gavin announced.
“Alright Gavin, we will be right there.” Alpha Bowers tells him.
“I’m sure you didn’t have the time to have breakfast this morning, so I had my Chef prepare something for us.” He tells me and then he turns around and starts walking and I have no choice than to follow him. I mean even when he’s trying to be cordial, he still manages to be
an ass.
I follow him into a grand dining hall and the table is filled with different kinds of breads and pastries and of course there’s also different kinds of cheese on a board and fruits, lots of fruits and berries, you would think that this was breakfast for the whole house and not just the both of us.
“I think you’ll like everything that my Chef made.” He tells me as I tak my seat.
I take a bite of some eggs and it takes all the control in my body not to let out a moan, because he was right about his Chef being good.
We ate in comfortable silence, he didn’t ask me any questions but I still had that nagging feeling at the back of my mind.

I was almost done with my breakfast when his phone vibrated on the table and he picked it up. “Please excuse me Miss Edmund, I’ll be right back.” He says before he gets up from his chair and leaves the room.
I was just about to finish my food when I felt something cool and soft on my calf all of a sudden.
What the hell?
I looked down, only to see a snow–white snake twirling itself around my calf, slowly inching its way up my leg. Its eyes were clear and amber–colored, and it kept flicking its tongue from time to time.
Unlike my sister, I did not grow up in the city. Before I turned nineteen, I had been living in the countryside. There were always be snakes in the fields and rivers, so I wasn’t afraid of the snake. I had even caught snakes for fun with my childhood friends back then.
However, when I came to the city, I rarely had the chance to see snakes anymore.
I
put down
my fork and pried the little fellow that was wrapped around my leg off before lifting it right in front of my face so I could get a good look at it. It was a lovely little fellow, I caressed the snake’s head gently. “Hello, little guy. You look special. Are you an albino?”
Maube I could take him home if he did not have an owner, I knew for sure that the kifs would love to have a pet snake. Well Xavier would, I was not sure about Clayton.
“You’re not afraid of Moony?” I heard a childish voice ask from behind me.
“M–Moony?”
My eyes shifted from Moony to the little boy, who was standing at the door of the dining hall.
The little boy had pretty looks, and his dark eyes were fixed intently on me. His good looks were even comparable with that of Xavier and Clayton’s. Upon closer observation, I noticed that the little boy looked somewhat similar to Xavier and Clayton. Maybe it was because of this similarity that put me at ease and it almost felt like I had a connection to him.
My wolf Layla was also curious about the boy, she wanted to sniff him, but I held myself back.
I took Moony in my hand and walked toward the little boy before squatting down in front of
him.
“Is this snake yours? It’s cute!” I said to him with a smile on my face as I looked into the little boy’s dark eyes. “Is its name Moony?”

The little boy pursed his lips and snorted. “You’re unattractive, but you’re rather brave. At least you’re better than those women who screamed when they saw Moony.” That’s the thing with kids, always honest even though it hurts.
“Here. I’ll return it back to you.” I placed Moony on the little boys small palms.
He snorted again, never once averting his eyes from her face. “I called you unattractive just now. Why are you not mad at me?”
I knew my hyper realistic mask wasn’t anything to write home about and I liked it like that, it meant that I did not draw attention to myself. So I wasn’t bothered by his words.
“Well, it’s a fact that I’m unattractive. Therefore, there’s no reason for me to be mad about it.” I rubbed his head, which was bristly because of his short hair, while I spoke to him. “Moreover, I’m already ugly. Won’t it just make me uglier if I still get angry about it?”
He looked shocked at first but then he smiled up at me and I noticed that he had a gap tooth and also a dimple on his left cheek and it made him look even cuter.
“Y–You…” He clenched his little fists.
“Hmm? What is it?” I paused my action before lifting my head to look at him. He seemed to be struggling with something.
“Woman, you touched my head! You’ll have to take responsibility.” He stared straight into my eyes as he spoke. “Be my woman from now on. I swear that I’ll take care of you to the best of my abilities for the rest of my life. No one will dare to bully you!”
“Pfft!”
I swear I did my best not to laugh, because the whole interaction was just too cute.
This little guy is only about the same age as Clayton and Xavier, yet he confessed his feelings to me just like that?
What was funny was that the little boy was so adorable, yet he said something so domineering like he was the president of a company or an Alpha. The contrast was so jarring that I couldn’t stop myself from laughing.
“Why are you laughing?” He puffed up his chest and stared at me in all seriousness.
“There aren’t a lot of women who can meet my standards. You’re the first. Since both Moony and I find you acceptable, you should stay by my side from today onward.”
I could just imagine how enraged this child’s father would be if he were to hear this.

While I was in the middle of gathering my thoughts, a tall and lean figure came in from the living room.
The man’s eyes were stern and frosty as he called out, “Franklin Bowers.”
