The closer we got to our destination, the worse the weather got, the wind was so strong and combined that with the heavy pour of the rain, the umbrella was basically useless and the both of us were soaked from head to toe.

This was an insult and I knew that Kataleya was just doing this to show exactly who was in charge but I have had enough.

I stopped walking and Natalie looked at me with confusion in her eyes.

“What are you doing?” She asks me.

“Kataleya.” I shout her name so loudly that the trees shake.

“Enough of your games, I came here on my own volition, you continue this and the next time I return I won’t be alone.” I threaten her and I mean every word that I say.

I wait for a few minutes and first the winds die down, followed by the rain stopping and then the dark clouds disappear and the sun comes out.

“Wow.” It’s all Natalie says as she looks around.

“Why didn’t you do that before we got soaked?” She asks me and I smirk at her.

“We’re not soaked anymore.” I tell her and she looks down at herself and she’s shocked to see that she’s now dry.

“What? How?” She asks me.

“Kataleya just wanted us to know that we were in her territory and make it clear that she was the one in charge.” I explain to her.

“Well at least she dried us up.” She says and she has that smile on her face, she has been smiling more lately and I love it.

We continue our walk until we make it to the gates where we have a welcoming committee waiting for us.

“Stay close to me and do not believe everything that you see.” I say to Natalie through our mind link and she looks up at me in shock.

I just smile, did she seriously think I didn’t know about it, I mean the first time it happened, I wasn’t even sure that she heard me until I saw her reaction that she did her best to hide and that’s when I knew.

Since then, whenever I wanted to tell her something that I knew she wouldn’t like me saying, I used the link and I acted like I didn’t know what was happening.

“Alpha Bowers, my name is Amaya, welcome to our land. Kataleya is waiting for you.” She tells me and then she smiles at Natalie.

“Who might you be?” She asks her.

“I’m Natalic Nichols.” Natalie tells her and she just nods her head and smiles, I hate witches more so because I have trouble reading them and I don’t like that.

“Well if you’ll follow me.” She says and she starts walking and we follow closely behind her.

This is my first time here and at first glance it looks like any normal town or village but when you pay closer attention you notice how everything is perfect and how nothing is out of place, that must be their magic working.

Amaya leads us to a green house but she doesn’t go in with us. “She’s in there waiting for you.” She says as she stands by the door.

Natalie and I walk in to find Kataleya, she’s wearing the same face she had the last time that I saw her. Her hair, her makeup and her clothes, they all look perfect and pristine, she looks so out of place in the green house.

“Alpha Bowers.” She speaks first as she glares at me.

“Kataleya.” I glare right back at her, because at least I have a good reason to be pissed.

“What brings you here, unannounced.” She snaps at me.

“I have something urgent to discuss with you and it couldn’t wait.” I tell her and then she nods her head and her eyes move over to Natalie and she frowns her face.

She takes a step forward and I don’t know why but my instincts immediately take over and I step in front of Natalie.

“Well, I never thought I would see the day, she’s your mate isn’t she?” Kataleya asks me but her eyes are still on Natalie.

“Yes she is.” I tell her.

“Very beautiful, that is underneath your mask.” Kataleya tells her and Natalie lets out a shocked gasp.

How did she know.

“Oh sweetie, we witches are masters of disguise.” She says before we can even ask her.

“So Alpha Bowers, you say that you have something urgent to discuss with me?” She asks me as she turns her attention to me.

“Yes, but first is this place private?” I ask her.

“Of course, no one can hear what happens in here, that’s why I chose the place.” She tells me.

“Ok, what do you know about a witch named Venya?” I ask her and immediately the smile slips from her face and I can sense her fear even though she does her best to hide it.

“We do not speak that name.” She snaps at me.

“Well we are going to have to seeing as there’s a group of werewolves and witches trying to bring her back. I tell her and she glares at me.

“That’s impossible, if something like that were happening, I would know.” She tells me.

“How would you know? You and your witches are basically secluded from the rest of the world, so how the hell would you know?” I ask her and she still glares at me.

“Do you have proof of this?” She asks me and I look at Natalie and she brings out the manila envelope from her bag and she hands it to Kataleya.

I watch as she takes out the pictures and when I hear her gasp I know that she finally believes.

“How old are these pictures?” She asks me.

“The first set of bodies were found close to a month ago now and the other body was found about a week ago.” I tell her and she nods her head.

“Then we might still have time to stop them as long as they don’t have everything else that they need.” She

says.

“Which is one of the reasons I am here, what exactly do they need for the ritual?” I ask her and from the look she gives me, I don’t think it’s anything good.
