Alpha Samuel Bowers—
It took my team time but I was finally able to get a name, Natalie Edmund, she just moved to the city and she was the new head medical examiner and that was all they were able to dig up along with her photo, Steven was right about her face it's like every average womans face, nothing standout about it, but there was something about her eyes, I couldn't put my finger on it.
There's a knock on my window and I turn around to see Billy with a sullen look on his face and he doesn't have Natalie with him. I wind down my window. “Where is she Billy?” I ask him.
“I'm sorry Alpha but she refused to come with me.” He says and that's a shock.
“Did she give you a reason?” I ask him.
“She said that she has a very important case to attend to and that if you should come back when she's free.” Billy tells me and I can hear his voice shake as he speaks.
He knows that no one dares to speak to me in that way, who does this woman think she is? “Did you tell her who I was?” I asked him.
“Yes, she seemed to be aware of who you were Alpha.” He tells me.
Yet she still chose to blow me off, I have to admit that even if I am pissed, a part of me is intrigued, I mean it's been a while since anyone has said no to me.
“Get in the car Billy, let's go back to the office.” I tell him.
“Yes Alpha Bowers.” He boes his head, I take up my window.
“Billy, has the tech team been able to find anything more on Miss Edmund?” I asked him as I took out my phone from my pocket.
“Actually Alpha, they did try to get more information on her, they were able to get some more basic information but that was it, anything relating to her past or careers or family, they couldn't find anything.” He tells me.
“That's not possible, I have the best hackers in the country couldn't they just hack it and get the information that I need?” I asked him, I was getting really tired of the excuses today and I know it wasn't his fault but he's the one here right now.
“I'm sorry Alpha, they said that they tried but they said it can't be hacked and when they tried to hack it, our system was hacked instead and the hacker stole millions of our codes.” Billy tells me.
That immediately has me thinking, who exactly is this woman? She shows up out of nowhere, makes my daughter speak for the first time and the best tech team in the country can't seem to find anything on her.
I take out my phone and dial the one person who must know something about her.
“Good morning Mr. Bowers.”
“Good morning Jim.”
“To what do I owe this call?” He asks me but I can hear the cautiousness in his tone.
“I hear you hired a new medical examiner.” I tell him.
“That's right, Miss Edmund, she's great in her field. She'll be a real asset to the Major Crimes Unit.” He tells me.
“Where exactly did you find her?” I ask him.
“Is there something wrong Mr. Bowers?” He asks me.
“No, not at all, I'm just trying to get to know the newest addition to the police department as it does fall in Blood Moon Pack territory, I might need her help with something.” That's as much as I'm going to give him.
“Well they're both good, had breakfast, did some homeschool now they're having their snacks and colouring.” He tells me.
“What about Sophia? Has she said anything?” I ask him.
“No, but she has been keeping that drawing of Natalie close to her, she doesn't want to let go of it.” He tells me.
“Ok, I need you to call the tech team and tell them that Natalie worked in Denver before she came here. They should be abke to pick up a trail there.” I tell him.
“Ok, I'll do that.” He tells me.
“Also, there's a possibility that I'll get home late today, so I'm going to need you to take my place at the pack meeting tonight.” I tell him and he is silent on the phone.
“Steven, did you hear what I said?” I asked him.
“Yes, I did, I'm just finding it hard to believe. Why can’t your beta do it?” He asks me.
“Because Mark has his own duties, I'm asking you because you are my brother, do not let me down Steven.” I tell him.
“I won't, I promise.” He tells me.
“Good.” I say and then I hang up the call, it's high time I started giving him more things to do anyway, he's been too settled.
Ms. Natalie Edmund thinks that she's the one in charge here, well she's about to find out that no one says no to me.
