**TITLE: The City That Drowned in the Sound of Its Own Heartbeat by Erynd Cal DusK**

**Chapter 84**

**NATALIE.**

Today was undeniably a stroke of fortune for me, and I was determined to seize every opportunity it presented.

As soon as the employees caught sight of their CEO’s unexpected demeanor towards me, their attitudes shifted dramatically. Suddenly, I was no longer just another visitor; I was treated like a guest of honor, a VIP.

A glass of sparkling champagne was placed in my hand, and I followed Hans into his expansive office.

Before stepping inside, I couldn’t help but notice the astonished expressions on the faces of the staff. A smile crept across my lips, a mix of amusement and triumph.

Hans’ office was a stunning expanse of glass, bathing the room in natural light. From this vantage point, the city sprawled out beneath us, a breathtaking panorama that seemed to pulse with life.

He gestured towards one of the plush chairs, inviting me to sit. I carefully placed the champagne flute on the small stool beside me, feeling a curious mix of excitement and apprehension.

“Is there something wrong with the drink, Ms. Edmund?” Hans inquired, his brow slightly furrowed with concern.

“Oh, not at all! I just happen to be someone who prefers to avoid alcohol,” I replied, my voice light yet firm.

“Oh, you should have mentioned that sooner! You’re an incredibly important guest. What can I get for you instead?” He asked, his eagerness to accommodate me palpable.

“Honestly, it’s quite alright. I don’t want to impose,” I reassured him, though I could sense his insistence.

“Please, I insist,” he pressed, a smile breaking through his seriousness.

“Well, if you have tea, that would be lovely. If not, a glass of water would suffice,” I responded, feeling a warmth from his genuine desire to please.

“Ah, you’re in luck! I always keep a tea set in my office for when my wife visits; she adores it,” he said, a glimmer of affection lighting up his eyes at the mere mention of her name.

As he prepared the tea, pouring hot water into the cup and steeping the tea bag with careful precision, I couldn’t help but observe the tenderness in his movements.

“Yana has faced health challenges since childhood. After giving birth to our daughter Zoe, her condition worsened. The doctors warned us that she might not see her thirties,” he said, a shadow of sorrow crossing his face. “You possess remarkable medical knowledge, and I can’t help but see you as my last hope. I need your assistance to heal Yana.”

“I’m just a coroner, Hans,” I replied, my heart racing slightly at the weight of his request.

“No, I refuse to accept that. You saved her life that day at the school,” he asserted, a heavy sigh escaping his lips as he took a seat across from me.

“She confided in me that her heart has never felt this at peace since she was young. That made me realize something profound: just because she hasn’t had an attack doesn’t mean she hasn’t been suffering. She never wanted to burden Zoe or me with her pain.”

I narrowed my eyes slightly, taking a sip of the aromatic tea, letting its warmth seep into me.

I set my cup down, contemplating my words carefully before speaking. “Mrs. Becker was born with a heart condition, but it’s not beyond healing. I plan to use acupuncture to repair her damaged arteries, followed by medication to enhance the healing process. However, there’s a catch: two of the necessary drugs are rare and difficult to obtain, so I’ll need some time to track them down.”

“Just tell me what they are. I’ll do everything in my power to assist you in sourcing them,” he offered, his eyes filled with a desperate hope.

“I keep a close eye on the news for any updates regarding them. I promise to inform you as soon as I find anything new,” I assured him.

“Okay. That sounds wonderful,” he said, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. “I can’t express how grateful I am that you’ve agreed to help Yana… You may not fully grasp how vital she is to me. I would do anything to keep her alive, even if it meant sacrificing my own life.”

His words moved me deeply, and a smile broke across my face despite the gravity of the situation. Sighing softly, I said, “Mr. Becker, the love you share with your wife is truly inspiring; it will surely endure for many years to come.”

“Thank you. I’ll have my lawyer initiate the transfer to your name immediately,” he said, his expression a mix of relief and resolve.

“Mr. Becker, I’m not interested in property rights. What I seek are two specific authorities within Crown Entertainment,” I clarified, feeling a surge of confidence.

“What do you require?” he asked, leaning forward, eager to hear more.

“I need access to the contracts of artists under Crown Entertainment for the past three years, as well as the rights to make decisions regarding any filming-related matters,” I explained, my voice steady. “This authority will automatically expire after three years.”

Hans, consumed by thoughts of Yana’s health, seemed unfazed by the conditions I laid out.

If Yara were to sign a contract with Crown Entertainment, she would have a world of opportunities ahead of her.
