It’s only been a few days since I last saw Natalie but she’s been on my mind all the time, I mean I can’t get her out of my head.

I keep going through the reports that my PI got for me and it’s not a lot. According to him and my personal tech team, they are pretty sure that someone has gone through a lot of trouble to hide Natalie’s real identity.

So I know some things but I know that I don’t have the full picture.

I know for a fact that she is Yara’s twin sister Natalie but I have no idea why she’s wearing a mask and lying about who she really is, but I’m pretty sure that it has something to do with Yara.

Oh every part of me craves her, I want her with me, next to me, I want to protect her, fight for her, help her deal with her demons because it’s clear that she’s been fighting for herself, that is why she’s so closed off and over protective.

If I do what I want to do, I know that’s just going to scare her off, I need to let her come to me, but that doesn’t mean that I’m just going to sit on my hands and do nothing about it.

There’s a knock on my door and by the heartbeat, I can already tell that it’s Gavin.

“Come in.” I tell him and then the door opens and he walks in.

“Alpha Bowers, it will be Mr. Franklin and Ms. Sophia’s fifth birthday in just a few weeks. Do you have any ideas on how you’re going to celebrate it?”

“Franklin and Sophia’s birthday?”

How are they five already? They were the biggest shocks of my life but now I can’t imagine life without them.

“Thank you for the reminder Gavin, I’ll get back to you on the plans.” I tell him and I feel a smile growing on my face as a plan formulates in my mind.

I looked up at Gavin who was staring at me. “Is there anything else?” I ask.

“Oh no Alpha, I’ll take my leave now.” He says and then he turns around and leaves

to the kids birthday party.

I pick up my phone to call her but then my doors fly open and my brother walks in.

“What have I told you about knocking Steven?” I glare at him but then I see the look on his face.

“What’s wrong?” I ask him.

“I’m sorry for not knocking, but this couldn’t wait.” He tells me and then I notice the folder in his hand.

I drop my phone back on the table. “Talk to me, what is it?” I ask him.

“The police chief has been trying to reach you and when you didn’t pick up, he called me. Remember those bodies that were found down by the river?” He asks me.

“Yes I do, have they found the killer?” I ask him.

Because of the number of bodies, I was interested in the case but then I found out they were all humans and the wolves know that an attack on humans is punishable by death.

“Not yet which is why he was trying to reach you.” Steven says.

“Does he think that the killer is a wolf?” I ask him.

“Yea, because they’ve not been having any luck but that wasn’t what caught my attention and brought me to you.” He says and I can hear an edge of panic in his voice.

My brother for all his carefree attitude, he isn’t someone that gets rattled easily so his panic has me worried.

“Spit it out already Steven.” I tell him.

“I told him to send me everything that they had.” He says and then he opens the folder in his hand and then he starts bringing out pictures and spreading them on the table. All pictures of different body parts.

“What am I looking at here Steven?” I ask him.

“Just wait.” He says as he continues spreading the pictures on the table.

“Ok, now that you’re done can you tell me what I’m looking at because all I sew are mutilated body parts but whoever put them together did an excellent job.” I tell him.

“No, it’s not the body parts, it’s what’s on the bodies, look at the markings.” He says and then I take a closer look at the pictures and when I see what he’s talking about my heart skips a beat. I know fear and I am not a man that is scared of anything, but seeing those markings, I feel that fear start to creep in.

“Why weren’t we notified of this immediately?” I snap at him.

“We were, we just didn’t pay attention to the case.” He tells me.

“Fuck!!! How may bodies all together?” I ask him.

“Four bodies were found.” He tells me.

“Four bodies that we know off, I mean there might be more. They need twelve to complete the ritual correct?” I ask him.

“Yes that and some other things.” He adds.

“I need you to call a meeting of the council, do not tell them what it’s about, just that it’s urgent. I’m going to call the police chief and tell him that we are taking over this case.” I say to him.

“Ok, I’ll get right on it, but Samuel, do you think there’s a chance that this might all just be a coincidence, I mean it’s been centuries since something like this happened. I mean the only reason we know about it is because of the stories that mum told us.” He says to me.

“I don’t believe in coincidences Steven, now go and inform the council of the meeting tonight.” I tell him and then he nods his head and leaves the office.

Fuck, no, this can’t be happening.

I call the police chief and he picks up almost immediately.

“Alpha Damon, you’re a hard man to pin down.” He tells me.

“I’m sorry about that chief, I’ve been really busy, but my brother just told me about the case and I’m calling to inform you that I’ll be taking over now. I need you to bring the bodies and everything else you have on this case over to the pack.” I tell him and he let’s out a sigh.

“Let me guess, I’m not to ask any questions.” He says.

“I’m sorry chief, but this is the way it has to be.” I tell him and he let’s out a sigh.

“We’ve worked well together over the years so I trust you. I’ll have everything over by end of day tomorrow.” He says and then he hangs up.
